I visited At 7 Bar and Grill located at 1472 Market St, Des Plaines, IL 60016, back in October 2024 with a friend during a road trip. I’m a bit late posting this review, but I feel it's important to share my honest experience. Upon arrival, the restaurant looked appealing from the outside, but that initial impression quickly faded.
When we walked in, there was no hostess to greet us, and after waiting a few minutes, someone finally acknowledged our presence. We ended up sitting at the bar, and from the get-go, the bartender seemed disinterested in serving us. We ordered drinks—my friend opted for a shot while I had a Coors Light, and we both requested water. The drinks arrived promptly since we were at the bar, but the service took a turn for the worse when I ordered the spicy cheese curds as an appetizer.
The wait for the cheese curds felt excessively long, and when they finally arrived, they were disappointingly cold—not even melted inside. To add to my confusion, they were served over a bed of lettuce, which was not mentioned on the menu. When I asked the bartender about this, she curtly stated that “they sometimes come like that” but offered no explanation for their temperature. I suspected they had been forgotten and brought out late.
Things didn’t improve with my quesadillas; they arrived without the sour cream that was supposed to be included. When I pointed this out, the bartender responded defensively, saying she didn’t know I wanted it. This led to a frustrating exchange, with me, stating that the sour cream comes with the entrée, it’s on the menu. Her response was “you don’t have to talk to me like that” and although she eventually brought the sour cream, the interaction left a bad taste.
The manager, who was dressed in black, seemed more interested in playing pool with who he stated was a friend than addressing our concerns. When I attempted to discuss our issues with him, he brushed me off, claiming he was busy with a friend playing pool then called him a customer. This lack of attention to customer complaints was disappointing and unprofessional.
After spending $69 for our meal, I left without tipping the bartender, as I felt her attitude was unwelcoming and dismissive. Unfortunately, my experience reflects a pattern noted in other reviews, and I cannot recommend this location. I left feeling ignored and dissatisfied, and it’s clear that improvements are needed in both service and food quality at At 7 Bar and Grill. I will say, however, that my friend enjoyed his entrée of the salmon mashed potatoes and asparagus although I believe he said that one of the items could have used more seasoning. The live band was also...
Read moreMy friend and I had reservations at 7 PM on 6/14. We haven’t seen each other in a while and thought this would be a good opportunity to catch up before we went to see 16 candles at the Des Plaines fest.
We walk in no hostess. Waited 3 minutes to finally be greeted and seated. 10 minutes later no waitress I kept looking around and the hostess caught this. She came to the table with two glasses and a pitcher of water and left them on the table without even pouring the water. She said our waitress will be right with us. It is now 7:15 and I made eye contact with the hostess again and waved my hand asking where is the waitress? She went to the bar pointed to our table, and we waited yet another five more minutes to finally get a waitress come up to us and didn't even apologize, but said we’re busy what can I get for you? We ordered drinks and an appetizer. It is now 7:30. At 7:40 I got up, went to the hostess and asked for the manager. There was a gentleman sitting at the bar that she went to & pointed to us. He then got up, went to the kitchen, came out of the kitchen with someone wearing an apron. Pointed to us, and that gentleman with the apron came to our table. He asked what he can help us with? I said it is now 745. Our reservations were at 7. What do you see on my table? He looked up at me & said what can I do for you? I said do you see any drinks or food on my table? I said I ordered drinks and appetizer 20 minutes ago. He then asked me if I was finished? And said the longer you complain the longer it’s going take me to make your food. I thanked him for wasting 50 minutes of our time with the worst service I have ever experienced. And that I’ve never seen a rude and careless manager. That was my first and last time in that awful environment. I wish I could give zero stars for this review. They don’t deserve one star. I had no choice what to choose one so I could write the review.
We went into the fest and ate at The Tiki Terrace food truck. Which was absolutely amazing & delicious. If you want good food and excellent service , go to The Tiki Terrace in Des Plaines. This photo is from The...
Read moreOMG! I have NEVER seen such horrible service at a bar/restaurant that still intended to be in business a month from now. Going to this place to eat was like getting into a taxi and discovering that my driver was Stevie Wonder. For starters, as we walked in, we could see there were many empty tables, which led us to think, “Great! We should get fast service!” WRONG! Johnny, what’ve we got for the losers? We were a party of 4, and we noted that the DJ, who, I assume, gets paid, was busy texting on his phone, as he played music way too loud, for a completely empty dance floor. We asked for a table on the patio, as far from the music as humanly possible, as we all wanted to talk with one another. We were given a table on the patio, as requested. The waitress brought us water and menus in a reasonable enough time. We ordered Bruschetta and two Diet Cokes…the other two in our party were good with just water. We also order an Arugula and Avocado Salad with chicken, two Chicken Caesar Salads, and a Gyro. The soft drinks and Bruschetta arrived in a reasonable amount of time. More than 30 minutes later, we still had not received our entrees. When a member of our party got up to find our waitress, who was also doubling as bartender, he asked how much longer it was going to be. He came back to our table to report that the waitress/bartender angrily told him that the kitchen was very busy and that it would be another “15 to 20 minutes”. If we were only just then ordering, that MIGHT be acceptable, but it was already 30 minutes, and that was unacceptable. In the meantime, from my seat, I had an unobstructed view of the paid-to-text DJ, and he never once looked up to notice that NO ONE WAS DANCING, AND THE MUSIC WAS BLARING! During the 30 minutes, we saw only one table for two being served the food they had ordered. I assume they placed their order on Thursday, and were only now eating, on Sunday. We told the waitress/bartender to bring us the bill so we would pay for the bruschetta and two cokes. After paying the bill, we left. Avoid this place like it’s radioactive! ...
