Potbelly — Restaurant in Maine Township

I used to LOVE Potbelly! The shake variety has greatly diminished as have the sandwich toppings... and the 2 kids sandwiches we purchased today 😳; they are 1/2 the size of what they were previously (see picture for size comparison with Doritos bag purchased there). I asked right before ordering to compare original vs kids and we got way smaller than the kids size they showed me! The last 2 times the QA prior to giving my order is sub par - they left out a variety of items. Also in the past few years, I’ve had issues with the app - paying in store and the slowness with ordering through the app. I do love the Powerhouse salad; delicious hummus on it! After ordering our family dinner, we were notified that our order had been dropped off 25 minutes later. Being that there was no delivery, we called potbelly to inquire. They informed us that Doordash was there delivery service (even though we ordered via the potbelly app) & that they picked the order up at the time of the delivery notification. We were told it should be on the way. 40 minutes later (over an hour after placing the order) there was no sign of the delivery. We called park ridge potbelly & requested a refund, which they were kind enough to oblige. Just for context, the order never arrived even as leaving this review more than 1.5 hrs later. The experience started out on a bad note BUT ... the manager more than turned it into a very positive one. We had had a long wait, we had been the only ones there at the time. Behind the counter the gentleman was on the phone. Two other employees where in the back. So , no service. Frustrated we where at the point of leaving.The gentleman was the manager who explained once the call was done that he was the only one at that particular day and time who could work the sandwiches first station area. Hence the long wait. He was very apologetic and to our surprise , lunch was on him. The sandwiches where made perfectly. Tasted perfect too. Definitely worth the wait and glad we stayed.
