4* for the kid in the front that helped, I know it wasn't his fault, but man that irritated me. Order for yesterday and today

Yesterday I ordered online 70$+ worth of food and there was missing items, the grilled cheese was soggy from steam of the fries and the club house was soggy (from lettuce and fries). Showed up a little late yesterday, but still fries were fresh.

Today, there was 1 person in the restaurant, i spent 50$+. I'm 99% positive they didn't start my order until I arrived (ordered over the phone, they were not prepaid, so I believe they didn't want to chance making it and no one shows up, just like subway does) they did not give the option to order online. I was even a whole 15 minutes late after the time frame they gave me. Imagine you're running late as it is, every minute counts, waited a whole 10 minutes more. For what? You guys had so much time to get it ready. Anand they put fries in all orders which I did not want for all, annnd the fries were old on top of it, why?

They have good food there, I will give credit where credit is due. But don't offer order ahead and not begin the order, ahead. 3.5* for food because of missing items and soggy from fries. But, i still recommend it...

I had breakfast at The Sugar Bowl today, and while the service was friendly and there was no wait, the food left a lot to be desired.

It’s clear this place has a long-time local following, but if you have taste buds and care about fresh, flavorful food, this spot probably isn’t for you.

I had scrambled eggs (bland and dry), hash browns (tasted like boiled, smashed potatoes), and French toast (just okay—could’ve used more cinnamon or flavor). The salsa tasted straight out of a jar, and I honestly wouldn’t trust much of what comes from their kitchen to be fresh.

The menu is huge—almost overwhelming—but sadly, quantity doesn’t make up for quality. Food came out fast, but it just didn’t taste like it was made with care.

The decor is dated, and while that might appeal to longtime regulars, it doesn’t add to the experience for someone looking for a good meal.

If you’re after a quick bite in a quiet place with kind staff, you might appreciate it. But if you're a foodie—or just someone who likes fresh, well-made breakfast—you’ll want to...

Went to eat at this place for the first time. We came up to the hostess desk behind 2 guys who were about to leave. The older lady behind the desk continued her conversation with them and let us wait until they finished their conversation to seat us which lasted a few minutes. Only when an older couple came in behind us did she want to seat us. Then when we wanted to leave we went to pay her and there was an older guy who signed his receipt then walked away back to the booth he sat at. She turned around and instead of ringing us up she did nothing but watch the older guy go to the booth until my wife told her excuse me we are ready to go and she said okay and went back to looking at the older guy. After leaving I called to talk to the manager and she said she is the manager and she thought every thing went fine because we said everything was okay. When I asked to talk to her superior her tone of voice changed and she said they aren't there. I have never been treated this way before and for her to be a manager acting as such is...

Lived in this area for TOO LONG NOT to have come here. This was amazing. Came in on a Saturday morning and was greeting by a very nice person right up front and sat us at a new cleaned table. Came out immediately before we sat down with Rico who brought waters, drinks, and tea was like a service. Full box and a Julius Meini set. We got the skillet (10/10) amazing with the perfect perfect perfect pancakes on the side. This was super filling and simply great. I personally got the Biscuits and Gravy with Eggs (an absolute MUST!) and the hash browns were more of a home style and super crispy and fresh. Absolutely 10/10 from the atmosphere (super relaxed and cozy) to the perfect customer service from everyone all around, to the food which was spot-on. Will be back, 100%. Thank you!

Busia, DziaDzia, Gerald and I had lunch at this cool family restaurant with a vintage flair. This unique place gives quality freshness and hospitality in Des Plaines. I noticed after we sat down the place got busy. Busia mentioned Blintzes which is an entree I didn’t eat yet. Next time I’m going to have to try it, I just couldn’t steer myself away from a good Benedict. I had to apologize to the family and the waitress because I couldn’t decide what to eat. Jaja 😛 We couldn’t finish the delicious food so we were able to bring back leftovers. Breakfast can really be served in all types of ways. Thank you to the wonderful staff of Sugar Bowl. It was a pleasure to eat good food, good conversation with DziaDzia and Busia about Sugar Bowl restaurant, homemade candy, and family. ❤️

America can sometimes feel like a lot of franchises and not enough distinctive, legendary standalone places that make a neighbourhood a neighbourhood. Suger bowl is a next level breakfast / dining experience and you can just tell from the mind-blowing amount of takeout business they do that the food is must have. Visiting from Canada and having accumulated a shocking amount of hunger, we decided to visit the renowned Sugar Bowl for some proper 'Murican breakfast. I ordered the Denver special and it was an epic sized meal which annihilated my hunger and then some. The bottomless coffee (I think I had 10 refills), outstanding service and rock-solid kitchen made for a 5/5 experience. We'll definitely be back when we're in the area.
