Was our first time trying this restaurant and unfortunately will be the last time.
The food in general was good except the last dish we ordered which was the Seafood Udon, which was way too salty to eat. To be honest the reason why I gave 1 star is because of the service, bear with me. The waiter was notified and the dish was sent back to the kitchen, but we felt it was forced on their part. So the dish was brought back to our table, which was cooked again but just with more water in it to cover the salty flavour. First time we’ve seen a restaurant operates like this.
The service was not very professional, we have to get attention from the waiters several time in order to fill the tea pot otherwise they won’t. And several working personal just told us to wait until the next one is available. They are however very proactive when we tried to order more food. The toilet is filthy, should be kept cleaner for a restaurant with such good front.
At the end, given the way how they handled the salty dish and the kind of service we received, we decided to leave a $11 tip for a bill that was approx $125 bill pre tax. I know it is low but we felt that tip amount should reflect the appreciation of the service the customer has received and the experience in general. For us it was bad.
The waiter came back and told us the tip was not enough and we have to leave at least $25 tip for that bill. We tried to explain to him that tip is at the discretion of the customer especially if the service was not worthy and the way they handled the salty dish. A tip is not automatically given but it’s earned. He then proceed to threat us that we have to leave $25 or otherwise we won’t be able to leave the restaurant and if we don’t like the way he handles business we don’t have to come back. Unbelievable and how rude. So when we started to argue with him and he saw that other costumers were paying more attention to the way how they brought back the same dish, he eventually backed off. Very unpleasant experience with this waiter. If the owner of the restaurant is reading this, he should be concerned about...
Read moreThis is my first time to this restaurant and was BLOWED AWAY by some of the waitresses' HORRIBLE ATTITUDE ! I admit that the food here is okay/good but the service is just too bad, at least this is what I experienced: 6 of us chose to sit at 2 small tables at the corner but the waitress keep telling us to sit in the middle of the hall. This could be a kind notification but I don't think we did something wrong by having our own preference. HOWEVER, here comes the annoying part: They then tell us that the corner tables are hard for the food cart to get in and we might be ignored and hope we don't complain about this part. FINE, this is okay, I can still walk to the cart and order some food when the it is close by. BUT when people are waiting at the doorway, the waitress came frequently and keep asking if we will order more, if not, we should leave. WTH??? Is this how they treat the customers? Having dim-sum is a way of leisure and I pay for the service, the food and the time of JOY as I stayed there. I understand they try to earn a lot of money by rotating more rounds of customers, but this shouldn't be an excuse to kick other customers away. Don't tell me they won't serve each of us if we separate into 6 different tables and of course, we are paying the same amount of tips. Despite that, some people who don't speak Mandarin or Cantonese are also ignored because having dim-sum is different than ordering food by the menu. They don't know this and none of the waiter/waitress guide them. It ends with sth like this: A family of 6 left by eating one dish. Once again, the food is okay, but I do hope they train their staff better before serving as a real restaurant who takes tips by offering rudeness. This...
Read moreIt was a beautiful fall Sunday, and my sister and I decided to take our 91-year-old father out for dim sum at Ming’s Seafood Restaurant in Malden. My sister went to pick up our parents, while my husband and I arrived at the restaurant early to secure a table. At the time, there was only one party ahead of us.
Since my father has great difficulty walking, his leg is very weak and he cannot stand for long, I politely asked the hostess if we could be seated at a table closer to the door to minimize his walking. She ignored my request and simply responded, “Tell me when everyone is here.”
As we waited, several groups who arrived after us were seated at tables closer to the entrance. My request was completely disregarded. I approached the hostess a second time, hoping to explain again, but she impatiently repeated, “Tell me when everyone is here,” in a dismissive tone.
When my parents finally arrived, there was no table available. We had to find a chair for my father to sit while waiting. Instead of offering any help, the hostess rudely told us, “You need to move so other people can walk.”
We have been coming to this restaurant for many years, this staff has always been kind of rude. Her attitude towards customers was upsetting and completely lacking in basic courtesy and empathy, especially considering our father’s age and mobility challenges. Sadly, this experience has left a very negative impression. We will not be returning to this...
