This place was awful. To start, there is no place to park except their $15 lot, which often is full, so you may not even be able to park, but you won't know until you arrive! Although the restaurant has a gorgeous view, and so-so food, the service was horrific on every level, and truly made it a bad experience. Definitely a tourist trap. We arrived at 11:30 on Sunday and were told that the kitchen was closed until 12:15. APPARENTLY THIS PLACE CLOSES AT 11:30AM-12:15PM. I did not see this on their website, and found it to be extremely frustrating when I had 4 hungry kids on my hands. Anyway, we decided to walk around and come back. Upon returning, a line had formed, waiting for them to open. I asked the hostess for kids menus to keep my kids busy coloring. She hands me 4 menus and 2 crayons. Clearly she doesn't understand that this will pose a problem for small kids when they have to share their crayons. Finally, we are seated, and no waitress shows up for 10min, until I ask for the waitress. She takes our drink orders, and returns with drinks. We ordered Americanos, and she did not bring any sugar or cream. I wait patiently for someone to come offer it, but she does not return, so I track down another waitress to get the items I need. At this point it's 12:45 and we are still waiting to order food. She finally comes back to take our order. Food arrives, kids start to eat, and my son accidentally drops a piece of his quesadilla on the floor. Waitress runs over to scold him for "feeding the birds". We are all confused, but move on. We actually came for my birthday, so we order a couple deserts. They bring one out. Then as an afterthought, they remember my husband told them it's my birthday and they bring out second desert with an unlit candle. My husband had to chase someone down to light the candle. It truly felt like the people working here were so oblivious. The most helpful people were in fact the bus boys, and really the only people who deserved a tip. I won't be coming back here and I would discourage anyone else as well. If you want a pleasant and relaxing beach brunch, this is NOT the place. Their disgruntled and inexperienced staff is rude, slow, and clearly don't understand children or adults. I would take my...
Read moreIf you are people of color, you properly want to stay away from this restaurant. All the staff were welcoming, except our waiter was unattended and a racist. It took almost 20 minutes for him to acknowledge us (while we have our menus on our table with no food nor drinks), he kept walking right past us, instead, checking on other customers who were happened to be White, he was completely ignored us. The restaurants were not busy with many open tables.
When he finally came around to take our order, his tone was condescending and rooted in racism. He did not do a thing beside taking our order, and checked on us only once on asking "how is everything" while kept walking, and we have to wave him down for the check since we have finished our food and waited at least 10 minutes.
He was extremely unprofessional, this waiter needed to be retrain on how to be a waiter or just be fired to be honest. This was a very unpleasant experience as a customer.
If the management care to address this, you can message me privately on more details on our evening experience. Because I promise you, there will be other customers have the similar experience and will write on here.
Unfortunately, as the night went on I noticed all employees bringing out appetizers, entrees, and drinks were people of color. Seems rather racist to me. Again our waiter all he did was took our order (all at once), checked on us once, and brought out the check that we had to...
Read moreWe visited Malibu Farm Café, but were told it was closed and the same menu was available at the restaurant — so we went ahead and got outdoor seating at the restaurant. The view alone is worth a visit — absolutely stunning, right on the pier, with a peaceful ocean breeze. Definitely a great spot if you're looking for a beautiful and relaxing atmosphere.
We started with the 21 Mile Crab Cake, which looked great on the menu but was a little underwhelming. It came with caper berries, house aioli, and watermelon radish — presentation was nice, but you only get one small crab cake, and it was lacking in flavor. I’d rate it a 3.5/5 at best.
For the main, we shared the Vegan Coconut Curry — and this was the star of the meal. So flavorful, light yet filling, with roasted veggies, tofu, and rice mixed with quinoa. Highly recommend this dish if you're looking for something healthy and satisfying.
We also ordered a mint drink, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations — especially for the $15 price tag. It tasted pretty average and wasn’t refreshing at all.
I’d heard a lot of hype around Malibu Farm, especially from social media, so I came in with high expectations. While the ambience and curry were great, overall the experience felt a bit overpriced for what we got. Would I return? Maybe just for the view and a drink (if they fix the mint one 😅), but definitely...
