We came here sep 2025 and it was raining like cats and dogs,so it was perfect time for a bowl of warm broth. When we entered the restaurant,we were both in awe of all the different godzilla memorabilia that adorned the walls throughout the entire place.Tip my hat to the owners for the time it took to find all that.We came around 3:30 pm,so there was no wait, but would realize later we beat the rush. The waitress was polite and seated us without hesitation. The menu has quite a few items on it to choose from,so it took us a few minutes to decide.Someone in an earlier post had basically said the black garlic ramen was life changing,so we both got the black garlic ramen. We also orderd some takoyaki and tempura shrimp. This was our first visit to GOJIRA,and neither one of us had ever had black garlic ramen or takoyaki. The wait for our food was just long enough for us to take it all in being there, and then we were served. We were both served large bowls of the black garlic ramen, and the takoyaki and shrimp tempura came a short time later. The black garlic ramen was ok really.I was not blown away with a depth of flavor that would make me hungry for more, rather a big bowl of broth and ramen to get through. There was not alot of meat in the ramen which left me wanting more. The ramen noodles were fine though. The broth was almost a little too watery maybe. The takoyaki were pretty tastey really. If you don't like octopus,do not get these,as thats what is inside them.We were both fine with octopus,so it was not a big deal. The shrimp tempura literally were like the ones you buy in the freezer section of your grocery store.I was a little underwhelmed to be honest, but we would come back again and try something else. They do serve beer and sake here, which no doubt is popular with the ramen, etc. We didn't have any beers or sake because we had to drive.Perhaps with a decent buzz on,the black garlic ramen would be "the best I...
Read moreI had one of the most uncomfortable dining experiences at this Japanese restaurant today around 4pm.
We waited for a long time, but no one came to take our order. The tables around us had already started eating. I politely raised my hand to get a server’s attention, and that’s when things really went downhill.
A white male server came over with a visibly annoyed expression and said, “You know? It’s very rude to wave your hand here.” I was caught off guard and asked, “In this restaurant?” His tone became even more condescending as he replied, “No, not only here… everywhere.” He then rolled his eyes and looked around the restaurant, as if trying to make a point or embarrass me.
I was shocked by how unnecessarily harsh and patronizing his tone was. I felt deeply disrespected — I simply wanted to order food after being ignored for so long, and instead I was talked down to like I was doing something wrong. The interaction made me feel small, embarrassed, and singled out in a very public space.
Later, my sushi arrived without wasabi. I tried to make eye contact with servers for several minutes, but again, no one acknowledged me. Eventually I had to flag down a female server — asked for wasabi twice and still got nothing. It wasn’t until the third attempt that someone finally tossed two takeout containers of wasabi onto our table without a word.
When we finished eating, no one came to check on us or bring the check. We had to walk up to the front and pay ourselves. Unsurprisingly, I chose to leave no tip — a very clear reflection of how I was treated.
This experience left me feeling unwelcome and dismissed from the moment I walked in. I genuinely hope no one else has to go through what we did. Dining out should be enjoyable, not an exercise in being ignored, belittled, and humiliated.
Avoid this place if you care about being treated with...
Read moreQuestion: what is the best thing to do during a snowstorm - Eat ramen after a day on the slopes. We had our eye on checking out Gojira for a few days and when the storm hit, we could not think of a better thing to have for dinner. One of the things that I didn’t do is check the reviews since I didn’t want to get influenced by others’ thoughts and inputs. Yes, it was a bit risky, but it definitely was a bull’s eye.
We ordered a few different rolls of sushi. We ordered a takeout, but the process was easy, and it tied in with Gpay so was more seamless. On picking up, they had clearly separated the hot and cold food, so the rolls were packed in a different bag, and the Ramen and karage were packed separately.
The food was simply delicious. The rolls packed with flavor and the roll itself held together very well. While the rolls were not exactly large, they were sufficient to fill us up as a meal. I loved the quantity of ramen as well. They packed the miso in a separate container and the main dish was beautifully arranged with the noodles and egg. My only grouse was that the chicken karage didn’t have sufficient sauce. I would have appreciated a container of sauce on the side. However, that is just a personal preference because this was one of the nicest karages that I have eaten. The chicken was well done and juicy and not dry with a powdered garlic / chili sprinkled on the top.
Even though we didn’t dine in- I loved the ambiance that I experienced when I walked into the place. The homage to Godzilla was apparent. There were some old movie posters and other artwork that made Gojira look very cozy. The staff were friendly, and it left a memorable experience. I would definitely recommend this place for their ramen and sushi and will try and visit again before I head...
