El Charro Taqueria — Restaurant in Mammoth Lakes

Mmm how do I begin🎻 what a poor customer service the owner of the place has 🙄 when asked for the sour cream and guacamole on the side, they said she had said no sour cream or guacamole then she told them she said on the side because it was included but mixed by them. We tried to clarify but they would not give the sour cream. I asked the owner or person in charge tonight and he said it was too late and won’t give us what would be a tablespoon of sour cream because the food was already given to us. His attitude was such as to say to me that he can report us because all the business owners know each other and will report us too. I told him well too bad because we are leaving early in the morning but I can’t believe what a poor service you have for your customers, and told him we too are business owners and would never do that to a customer. I asked him if the sour cream is from a bottle and he said yes! And you cannot give that to my daughter? He said no. I know my family is probably writing a bad reviews as well. We could not believe they will have such an attitude for something that was included in the order but because of a misunderstanding they will not just give such a tinny thing and instead became really angry as a team and said they will report us…🤨🙄 No wonder the place had one table busy when we went in. I should have checked the reviews and would have seen the bad reviews before trying the place🤔 We will never go back there next time we come back for our skiing vacations. And if I see a place kind of empty for dinner, will definitely, read reviews...

Note, this review is for a visit in July & not during snow season and my comments are specific to this time of year. This is a super casual spot frequented by locals, which is why we wanted to try it. There was a group of 10 people who worked together having lunch at one large table, so plenty of room inside. This place has outdoor seating as well. I had the American Tacos (which was the daily special) with the carne asada as recommended by the cashier who took our order. It came with rice and beans which were warn and tasty, plus a fountain drink for $12.99. They brought our food to our table, which was nice and pointed out the salsa bar, which I had somehow missed. Ordered the Taco salad with beans and rice, asked for the sour cream and guacamole on side, they said I asked for no sour cream and because of that they didn’t want to give me sour cream, the taco salad cost 11.99 with sour cream and guacamole but wouldn’t give me the sour cream only guacamole on side. Plus the male manager came out and said he would report our whole group to all the restaurants because they “know each other”. This is basically a self service Mexican food taqueria, meaning you have paper plates/silverware and self services salsas. We included tip for this meal.
