This hotel use to be really nice 20 yrs ago. It is very dated and in desperate need of a major remodel and upgrade. We paid $189/ night for a king room thru Expedia. We felt it was extremely overpriced for the room. Our first room was lacking a bedside lamp, a cord for the phone, and most importantly there was no hot water in the shower. Being there in March when temps were in the single digits at night a hot shower after a day in the snow would have been nice. We let the water run for 10 minutes but it never warmed and was ice cold. I reported it to the front desk. She offered to have the maintenance crew try to fix it the next day. Not exactly what I had hoped...I asked to be moved to another room. She did accommodate my request. We finally had hot water. Two days later we get a knock on our door asking if we called for service. Had I not ask to be moved we would have had frigid water for more than half of our stay at the hotel. About the rooms: carpets are stained and dirty, doors dont shut without pushing firmly, beds are terribly uncomfortable, pillows are lumpy, toilets are very low to the ground and not level, room heater is VERY slow to warm the room, sofa bed in the room was as hard as a wooden bench very uncomfortable for sitting and sleeping. Pluses: The staff are all very very nice and they try really hard to the best they can with a dated hotel. The free breakfast is not too bad but get there early because they run out of eggs and hasbrowns really quickly. They also serve cereals, waffles, yogurt, oatmeal, muffins, bagels, coffee, juices, hot chocolate, tea and milk. Would be great if they would serve bacon , ham or sausage with the eggs but other than that their free breakfast is not too bad. Overall its a two star hotel. Not the greatest but not the worst. If they remodel, update and upgrade it would be a nice...
Read moreLanded here since it was really the only available hotel in mammoth this past weekend, which was available for a price that wasn't too outrageous. Now I know why it was still available.. The one positive about this place is the staff and the parking garage. Aside from that - the rooms / actual hotel seem a bit out dated. They could definitely use some sprucing up, especially when they are charging close to 300/night for a room with two queen beds... When I first got to my room, the first thing I noticed was a GIANT stain in the carpet right next to the desk chair.. I was going to say something to the hotel staff but then remembered what I signed up for, so I quickly made the decision that I would be wearing shoes in my room the whole time - expect for when showering and sleeping.. no big deal.. Next thing on the list of what to expect at a 2 star hotel is that not all the lighting will be plugged in ready to go, alright no big deal either, I will just move the side table and plug in the lamp.. Went ahead and did that and as soon as I plugged in the lamp - boom! Looked like a massive surge of electricity went off and the outlet started to smoke. Not only was that gnarly, and I def thought I was going to get shocked myself - it was a bit unsettling. With that, I had to tell the front desk, not only did I almost get shocked to the heavens - I had black soot left over from the explosion. Thankfully they had another room for me to change into but that wasn't after I was told to wait in the lobby while the front desk clerk helped out 5 other people in line that were checking in.. Call me crazy - but don't you think you would have helped out the guest whom almost get electrocuted rather than helping out other guest's whom haven't even...
Read moreIn my humble opinion, this hotel was okay I guess. Breakfast was okay and that's pretty much it, since this was the hotel that served breakfast, well from what we know for now. The rooms were not as great because the floor looked dirty and the bed sheets were slightly torn, same with parts of the curtains. We didn't get much service either, we asked for new towels and never got them and we got our beds made despite no "Do Not Disturb" hanging on the door knob. The hotel's location was the only thing that was fine, but it seems not as good as the other hotels in Mammoth Lakes. Also, FYI, the fact that this hotel asks for the payment to stay here before telling us there is in the middle of construction in order to avoid losing business if it was before the payment is smart but also not. Sure they apologize about it but it may not be worth it in the end. Plus, this hotel is so 20th century, meaning for example the looks of the rooms and the hotel overall and the keys are actual keys unlike the key card in other more modern hotels we have been to. This is weird because they look behind compared to other hotels, including the ones in Mammoth Lakes. Not surprised from this since this is a 2-star hotel and the construction may have been the main disappointment along with the less modern look which made since with this hotel being cheap but low quality. Loyalty matters to the customer the most and this is a good example that is not and we won't be returning to this hotel. That is why we disliked their service because they weren't as open to customers like us. I hope others who visit Mammoth Lakes who first see this hotel in the reviews can see this as advice for them and the workers at the hotel. Sorry, but we...
