Wow. Just, Wow! Such amazing food and service. I can’t say enough good things about this place.
If you’re looking for the best breakfast in mammoth, this is your place.
We had breakfast here twice, and stopped by a 3rd time on our way back home to pick up some mini-pies to take home for us and family. We loved the breakfast so much that we chose this place to go back to on the day of our wedding anniversary. We wanted to celebrate our anniversary with their delicious breakfast.
Both times we had: 2 eggs over-hard, 2 turkey sausage patties, crispy bacon, and their house potatoes. The first time we had an English muffin, the second time we had their house salsa and French toast. Both times we had OJ and an Arnold Palmer.
The drinks were perfect, with the Arnold Palmer properly made with unsweetened tea. The OJ was spectacular. A perfect blend of tangy and sweet.
The bacon was stellar, perfectly thick and crispy but not over-cooked to the point of falling apart. I honestly just sat there for a bit savoring the bacon before eating the rest of the meal. The turkey sausage was wonderfully seasoned and had a great flavor all of its own. The eggs were cooked to perfection, exactly as requested. The English muffin was nicely toasted and buttered, and the jam wasn’t the usual prepackaged jam in little plastic containers. It was served on a plate, not sure if it’s a custom jam they make or what, but it was really good.
The cinnamon French toast was great, and the option of having any number of slices we chose was great, this picture shows a single slice. Perfect for sharing without having too much. We chose to upgrade to the real maple syrup, a great choice over the normal maple flavored corn syrup at most restaurants.
The real star of the show was their custom potatoes. Not many places do potatoes this style, but they sure nailed it. Just to be clear, these are NOT hash browns, nor are they diced. They are seasoned nicely to have their own flavor, but not so much that it takes away from the potato flavor.
And the surprise all-star of this meal was the salsa. It was both delicious and had a surprisingly strong kick to it, that added heat without taking away from flavor. We loved it so much we made room for some of it in our cooler to take home. They really should bottle this salsa and sell it up front like the pies and syrup!
As for the pies, they were perfect. We got 2 mini apple and 1 mini cherry. All were excellent, and survived the drive from Mammoth to SoCal quite well.
The atmosphere is perfect, down-home country style decor, and the wait staff were all super friendly and very helpful and welcoming.
I only wish they were open later in the day for us to have...

Visited today, after getting gutted by the Rainbow Trout at Convict Lake, from 5-9am.
I still love The Stove! It's the best breakfast place we've found in Mammoth Lakes. Outside the restaurant is quirky & rustic, with rickety-looking stove sign out front & wooden steps leading inside. Inside continues this theme, with a cast-iron stove greeting you, inside the front door. Antiques & nick nacks from Grandma's home dress up practically every square inch of decorative space inside. The omelettes are killer here, especially The Western Omelette, with everything but the kitchen sink thrown into this 1. I was disappointed with the gravy, that I smothered on my fresh biscuit. Seems different than I remember, with a strange flavor profile. My wife enjoyed her Apricot Preserves on her biscuit.
The coffee here is hot & tasty. The employees are constantly brewing it, too. Nearly every time I took my eyes off my whopper of an omelette, someone was constantly making their way by all the booths, refilling anyone's coffee cup, who was running low. Service here was excellent, once again.
This place has been quite busy each time we've visited the area, just as it was at 9am, on 7/12/23. Views of the Sierras, from the parking lot here, are...
Read moreWe were in town for our near annual trek to the Mammoth Jazz Festival and decided to try a new place for breakfast. It's very noisy but there were families and groups, so the energy was fun The service was friendly and prompt, so I gave an extra star for that, however the food was disappointing and VERY expensive. I ordered the Sierra Sunrise which arrived raw. Literally cold and raw. The cheese never even melted. It also cost $17.50, not the $12.50 on the current menu. My side of bacon was $7.95, not the $4.95 on the current menu. My husband's breakfast wrap (with no sides) was just ok - very dry and it also had an inflated price. We had 2 coffees and an OJ to drink - a standard, diner breakfast for two was a whopping $65 before tip. I'm down for supporting small restaurants and even paying a bit more, especially for a good meal, but I left supremely disappointed in the food and now that I see the regular prices, I'm even more disappointed. I can't recommend this place and can't...
