Baker's Square is a solid American style restaurant. The food is good. The service is good.
The pandemic and bankruptcy changed a few things. They lost their source for their signature pies and have contracted with a new source that is not as good. We tried pumpkin and pecan, as well as the carrot cake. All were adequate and if you've never had the original you wouldn't know. Their signature seasonal flavors (e.g., Candy Cane) are no longer available.
The menu is more limited and more expensive post pandemic as is true for most chain restaurants. There are still options to make things healthier or vegetarian.
My husband was happy with the tuna melt with coleslaw and I had the strawberry crepes with a side of fruit, which was the same as I remembered. They were willing to put the sausage in a doggie bag so it never touched my food (and the dog loved it).
There is a kids menu that matches every other chain (hamburger, cheeseburger, chicken fingers, macaroni and cheese).
There is handicapped parking but the doors do not have automatic openers. The tables can be adjusted to accommodate...
Read moreWhen i went with my family there was only three other tables in the whole resturant sp it was a very slow time, the waitress couldn't tell me what was in a menu item and wouldn't check for mebut told me what she beloved was in it, when my food came right out as she set it on the table it had a hair in it which wasn't a huge deal but she asked if I wanted a new one? Well yeah it has someone's hair in it of course I want a new one. Then when it finally came out it was not at all like what she had told me she thought was on it, mushrooms and avocado is a bad combo, again not a huge deal, just wasn't good. She brought my husband toast instead of pancakes and when I pointed it out was once again "oh do you want that fixed?" Yes we want what we ordered. Just the whole experience was bad, she did nothing to help with the obvious problems we had didn't take the hairy sandwich off the table or anything, she didn't care about the customer and was rude at the end when another worker tried to help us pay. My husband was furious and I don't think we would come back especially to...
Read moreThe past 2 years we've made it a tradition to stop in for hot chocolate and a piece of pie after seeing the kiwanas lights in Sibley Park in Mankato MN. This year we were met by the supervisor and she advised us the grill was closed for the night and they closed at 8pm. We acknowledged that and told the kids we'd only be getting hot chocolate. When the 5 drinks came there was no whipped topping on any of them but we did get charged for that. When I brought this to the attention of the supervisor she claimed it all sank to the bottom. As I shared my concerns about the discrepancies a little old lady who was there before us had stated that when she arrived there at 730pm the doors were locked and the staff were very rude about her being there and ordering food. Now I don't know how everything works in this restaurant but I do know the few I've worked in it is uncustomary to lock any doors before the time started for closing. As someone from out of town and having this experience I'd STRONGLY encourage anyone to stay away from this establishment until...
