If you ever find yourself in Mankato and don’t stop at McAlister’s Deli, you’re doing your taste buds a disservice. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism. The atmosphere is laid-back but sharp, with a clean and comfortable interior perfect for a solo lunch, a casual hangout, or even a quick family dinner. Service was lightning-fast, the staff was incredibly polite, and they actually seemed to enjoy their jobs — a rare treat in the food world.

But the real star of my visit was the Spud Max. I’ve had my fair share of loaded potatoes, but nothing, and I mean nothing, comes close to what McAlister’s served me that day.

I just had my first experience with the company and I gotta say it’s lights out. The sandwiches are diabolical on the flavor front plus they come with a side!!! The red beans and rice are so tasty but that doesn’t take away from all the other options they have available for sides. The price point was what enticed me to make a review!!! This is very good quality food at a price point that is unmatched for sandwich shops in the Mankato area. Business was booming when I went in to pick up my meal on a Tuesday!!! As a long time resident of Mankato if McAllister’s can sustain what they are doing at this point they will blow all of the competition out of the water and will need to invest in a larger space because the parking lot was full and there wasn’t an empty seat in the house when I went to pick up my order. Great location and great service, the only thing I would look into is the online ordering and I only say that because I ordered curbside pick up but never received the email to validate my arrival. Not a huge deal because I just walked into the store up to the front counter and asked about my order and received it within 15 seconds. Great food, great staff, and great environment. I ordered catering for my bookclub and it was a wonderful experience to work with McAlister's! Everything was ready to go when I arrived for the pickup and they were able to accommodate a small customization of leaving tomatoes off some of the sandwiches. (Thank you!!) In addition to the sandwiches, wraps, pickles, and chips we also got the assorted dessert tray and a couple of gallons of drinks. You have the ability to include everything you may need such as cups, plates, straws, silverware, etc so there was no need for me to gather any outside supplies which was super helpful and the ladies that were assisting with pickup were kind enough to bring everything to my car for me.
