What a disappointment!! We were on a 9 day trip from the Chicago area to Monticello in Charlottesville, Virginia, and back. On the last morning of our trip we were looking for a place to have a nice breakfast and some coffee. Mansfield was less than an hour from our overnight accommodations and after a somewhat frustrating Google map search of the area - looking for a local “mom and pop” style cafe/coffee shop, we chose the Barrington Cafe based on a few photos and a 5 star rating. I’m not sure if the reviewing patrons didn’t want to hurt the owner’s feelings, or if none of them have exceeded eaten tasty, thoughtfully prepared food. The sausage, egg, and cheese on a “croissant” made Macdonald’s breakfast sandwiches like seem fine fare prepared by a master chef. The white bun was NOT a croissant. The lukewarm warm sausage and scrambled egg patties were tasteless and covered with American or Velveeta cheese food - gross! The cappuccino and macchiato were passable. The atmosphere was very nice and the young woman behind the counter was friendly, but she seemed embarrassed by the packaged, and tasteless food she had to offer.
