We have eaten here several times, tried various items. We had never had breakfast before, so we decided to give it a try.
Omelette was good, sausage, onions and cheese. It was cooked through so that's always a big plus for me. The toast was hard and cold, so that kinda sucked. Side of Sausage gravy, yeah that was just a no from me. White gravy mix with sausage crumbles, no other seasonings, too thick and barely warm. If you are gonna use a mix, at least season it. 2 egg breakfast with ham, grits and toast. The eggs were cooked properly, over medium. The ham was so thin, you could see through it. The grits, if you're not Southern, just don't. They were thick, cold and just gross. The toast was cold and hard.
The coffee was hot and fresh and the coke was cold and had that nice little bite to it.
Southern Style Creamy Grits
Grits Whatever water the box calls for, sub half with milk. Bring to a low boil and add grits, stir well and Add a stick of butter, 4 oz cream cheese, salt and pepper, reduce heat and let simmer 15 minutes, add more milk (or water) if needed. They need to be smooth and creamy, a lil salty and peppery.
Sausage gravy (large pot)
Fry sausage in a large pot, breaking up as it cooks, add bacon grease (yes bacon grease), fry until sausage is cooked through. Reduce heat and add 5 tablespoons flour, stir well, cook flour for 5 minutes stirring to prevent burning. Add 4 1/2 cups milk and bring to a simmer and allow gravy to thicken, add 3 tablespoons butter, salt and pepper to taste, may need to add more milk...
Read moreDO NOT EAT HERE! OVERPRICED AND BAD QUALITY! We had never been but heard the place advertised on the radio! We stopped in to try it out and when we sat down we immediately thought about leaving (wish we would have now). The server told us she was extremely busy but there was only my wife, daughter, and one other table of 3 in the restaurant and maybe two people at their bar (being serviced by someone else). The food is not good. Looks as if it is bought from GFS. We ordered a 6$ side of Mushrooms and got literally 6 small mushroom bites. We also ordered some of their âWorld Famous Coneysâ and they were even crappy. The sauce was burnt, the buns werenât steamed or anything just served out of a bag. I could have made the same hotdog at home. We ordered a milkshake and did not receive it until we were walking out the door. The place needed a serious clean. Overall we paid 44$ for the experience and it was worth it to know to not go back. I donât usually leave reviews but the quality here is unbearable. Iâm not sure how they are in business. DO...
Read moreOrdered a pair of coneys and fries. They were good. For what you pay, it's a very good value.
Are these the best coneys I've ever had? No. But for $9 I got 2 and fries. That's a steal.
This isn't fine dining. But that's ok. I will be coming back for a cheap lunch again.
Edit: Picked up lunch here the other day. Got two coney dogs with slaw and fries, with a piece of apple pie to go with it.
The coneys are better than I remember them being. And the amount of coneys sauce and slaw is significantly more than the other coney dog spot in Mansfield.
The fries are way better here. And you get options. I ordered the fresh cut fries because I love that style. They were done right and with a little salt really hit the spot.
The pie was solid. Not amazing, but good all the same.
I'd say this is the better coneys spot in town out of the two. And for the same order it came in a dollar and a half cheaper too. So the dogs are better, the fries are better, and you don't pay as much for them. That's a win all the way...
