My wife and I were so hungry. The food was so delicious. I forgot to take photos before we ate. I will add them next time. There will be more orders from us for sure.
We like to compare various restaurants with the same dishes. My wife ordered General Tso’s Chicken. I ordered Happy Family. These are our two favorite dishes from China Island. We received a bonus: Fried Egg Roll.
So how do they compare? The outstanding impression was this one tasted homemade. In what way? Each piece of meat was tender. The coating on General Tso’s Chicken can be over-caramelized. This can make the chicken harder to chew. Not so from Li’s. The coating was silky yet flavorful. The Happy Family had assorted kinds of meat. Everything was tender.
The vegetables were fresh and prepared to perfection. My wife said even the bamboo shoots were superb. The vegetable pieces were smaller. Much easier to eat. More labor for the kitchen.
The Fried Egg rolls were fresh and delicious. They are not our favorites, but these were addictive.
Besides the food quality, Li’s is closer to us than China Island. The drive is so short. We don’t need delivery.
The only negative I found was their website. Ordering online, it repeated a dish by accident. Then I noticed the website was using older Java web technology.
Hurrah! A new favorite for Chinese food I recommend Li’s Chinese Kitchen.
Update 6/22/2023 *
I ordered online again without any problems this time.
I tried the Singaporean Mei Fun. I wasn't a fan. Two other local places that offered it were better. But the General Tso's Chicken was still outstanding. I'll try more...
Read moreWriting this based on my opinion of this restaurant after dining there. First thing, it is a small place with dine in seating available. The food was decent and the place was clean. Our negatives on it are as follows. If you are a die hard Coke Cola fan, you will not get a coke here, they only offer Pepsi products. I ordered the Moo Goo Gi Pan, everywhere I order this I always ask for no mushrooms. I personally don't like mushrooms and hate wasting product that won't be consumed. The lady taking my order argued and told me to order something else because that dish is mainly mushrooms. After a small amount of debate with her I started trying to find something else, she finally understood I wanted that dish because it had all of the other veggies that I like plus the white sauce, so she finally let me order it. The dish was good, I just didn't appreciate the approach that I had to go through to get it. The egg drop soup was thick and under flavored. It tasted like it might have had the right flavor before they added too much thickener to it. The hot and sour soup was alright too, nothing to get excited about though.
All in all the food was decent, the atmosphere and the attitude of the wait staff on this Sunday morning were way below decent. We most likely will not go back for a long while, if we can find a sit down Chinese restaurant that we really like we might not...
Read moreTL;DR: Great food, consistent quality, and fast service.
I have eaten food from Li's about 7 times since I first tried them in Feb '25. I'm going to focus on three things in my review.
First, most importantly, is the quality of the food. I can't speak to the authenticity of the food but I'd guess it is typical Americanized Chinese food. But it is very good. I have tried the Mongolian chicken (very good, my favorite), the orange chicken, sesame chicken, and smoke chicken (second fave). It is the best Chinese place in DFW that I know of. If I decide to have Chinese, this is no question the place I want to go.
Second, the consistency of the food quality is very good. I have been satisfied with the taste and quality every time I have gone there. Most places are hit or miss. I very much appreciate consistency in a restaurant.
Third, the speed of service is good. They have always gotten things ready in an impressively short amount of time. This isn't such a big deal for me but I do appreciate it.
So, very good...
