Ready for some good chinese food? In the Pacific Northwest Chinese restaurants are a dime a dozen, but this evening with my Mom and Sister after a fun but appetite enducing hike through the Skookum Flats we went to Lucky Chopsticks. I had never been, and my mom and sister Hadn't been in for a couple months just because, life. Both were excited for it though, and told me it was one of their favorites! But after this initial experience I can see why! WE walked through the door and were shortly greeted by Judy, who sat is near the window at the front of our restaurant. Plenty of room, nice relaxing music appropriate to the establishment. Judy started us off with cold refreshing water and complementary hot tea. Gave us menus, which were extensive with many options to choose from. My sister and mom went with their favorites and I went with mine. I noticed they have a full bar with numerous mixed drinks which is always good to know. We got a large bowl of wonton soup and an order of steamed dumplings for appetizer, I chose a longtime favorite dish that I had not had here... but always want to try how different chefs prepare it. Orange Beef. We also got an order of vegetable fried rice and chicken & snow pea, my mom's favorite. Within 10 minutes we got our appetizers, and right after, our main course! Delicious won ton soup full of veggies and full bodied broth and flavorful meaty wontons. The steamed dumplings were large pockets, the meat rich and addicting... and the dipping sauce-so full of balanced flavor too! The main course dishes of rice and snowpea were largw portions cooked to order and tasty from start to finish with the snow pea and veggies cooked to bite, crunchy as we like. I was exceedingly happy with my dish, my two go to dishes are usually chicken chop suey or orange beef... one chinese restaurant in Columbus Texas made it for me for my first try and ledt me holding every restaurant to the same standard since... you might know what I'm taking about... so I'm happy to say Lucky Chopsticks won me over! The crispy orange beef was meaty mixed in with some veggies for a little healthy touch, and covered in a rich orange sauce that sings and the dried peels that have a good tangy bite! As a nice touch real orange slices adorn the outer edges of the plate If anything could have been improved... maybe a few more dumplings.. two for each person goes way too quick, ha! Truthfully though, our waitress, also Judy, was attentive, and detail oriented making sure my sister's water full without ice, and mind filled with. She knew my sister and Moms order before they ordered. And if that doesn't warrant high marks for service, Judy was warm and sincere friendly person who spoke with each of us as longtime friends. Overall a great experience had by all. I can tell you we will all be back again. And until that time I humbly remain Daniel Jeffrey Blake your favorite friend and...
Read moreExcellent experience. We went in an hour before closing on a Sunday evening. There were only 2 other tables that were occupied. The service was great, the server was very polite and attentive. We tried a bunch of different things off the menu, the pot stickers were amazing. They're the home made style where they're big and plump instead of the frozen tiny ones most places serve. The spring rolls that come with the dinner combos are fresh and tasty, but watch out they're HOT when they hit the table. The orange chicken is probably the best orange chicken I've ever tasted in my life, my daughter who is an orange chicken addict agrees, she raved about it saying it was definitely the best orange chicken she's ever had and we have to go back soon. Their basic fried rice that comes with the combos is ok, nothing to write home about, but I still liked it. The "chicken fingers" that come with every combo meal is basically the chicken from Sweet and Sour Chicken, you get 3 pieces and some sweet and sour sauce to go along side. They're good and a cool little perk that comes with your combo dinner. Their Won Ton soup tasted very good. Warning, their Beef and Broccoli isn't your standard Beef and Broccoli flavor, it tastes more like a Beef with Oyster Sauce, which imo is EXCELLENT because I love Beef with Oyster Sauce, but it caught my wife off guard and she complained that it tasted fishy, but once I tried it I couldn't get enough.
The prices are a little high now, all the combo meals are $16-18 now, but I don't blame them. Cost of food and employment is going through the roof so they gotta raise their prices. Their food was definitely worth the money. We live in Covington and we've now found our new Chinese Restaurant, it's worth the 10 minute drive. If you're searching for an Americanized Chinese Restaurant then this one...
Read moreThis lovely restaurant is just about as good as it gets when it comes to Chinese cuisine. Their blend of Mandarin & Szechuan food leaves you wanting to order MORE than you could ever eat in one seating, just so you can have "seconds" later! Their Honey Walnut Prawns is NOT TO BE MISSED! 'Best I've had - ever! The Broccoli chicken was fresh and even their luncheon special portion was considerably filling. The nicest surprise, on this cold wintery day, was their wonton soup. It was high quality with what looked to be homemade wontons and a broth that was immediately soothing. Another plus was that, upon checking, they do not use NO MSG in their food, which is especially important to a lot of people (including me!) I did not see this posted on their menu, so perhaps best to ask when ordering. Finally, the service and presentation of the food was superb! Our server kept checking that we had enough water and fresh, hot tea - which is served in a delightful little round, clear glass pot. The food was piping hot and came to us fairly quickly. The booths are comfortable and, as this was a birthday celebration and reunion of friends, we enjoyed lingering without any sense of being rushed. My friend, who lives in West Seattle, commented that there is nothing in her neighborhood that compares to the quality and service of "Lucky...
