BE CAREFUL at this location and ALWAYS check your receipts. Since the plandemic dwindled down they have been adding on a 3.8% credit card transaction fee for all card transactions. Many businesses likewise have done this and the only way to get around this fee is to pay for your food in cash. Today I went to pick-up some spinach patties as I usually do throughout the week. I pay with a $50 dollar bill for my 5 spinach patties totaling $13.59. My change should have been $35.69 which included my Cobb tax. But to my surprise I was only given $30.18. I didn’t ask for a receipt because I didn’t want to waste the paper. I walk outside to my car but can tell that “THE MATH AIN’T MATHIN!” Because I’m tired I pull out my phone calculator to run the numbers for the order instead of calculating it in my head. I see that they shorted me $5.51. I quickly go inside to let the cashier Rochelle and the other lady that gave me the patties of the discrepancy. They reprint the receipt and I pull out the $30.18 that gave me and put it on the counter. After they talk amongst themselves while looking at the receipt, Rochelle gives me $5 and says that she made a mistake in the transaction on the machine.i politely tell her that’s alright but I’m still missing my change because the total order was $14.31 and I originally gave them a $50. They rebuttal back to me that the change is right because the receipt shows their total was $14.82. I take their word for it because I cannot believe that they would get the math incorrect again. But I was wrong! I get outside and look at the original receipt and I see that they still charged me the 3.8% credit card transaction fee even though I payed with cash! I hurry back inside to show them the receipt and say you charged me the the credit card fee but I paid you all with cash. They rudely look at me as if I’m the one that can’t do simple math and they ask me to put give them the change and they pull out a $1 from their tip jar by the register and shew me out. I still politely tell them thanks for giving me the correct amount this time and I hear them sucking their teeth and saying comments under their breath as they say in a sarcastic way “thank you sir” while I’m walking out the door. Because I was tired and ready to go, I let the rude behavior and snarky comments go but I’m writing this review because if I was OVERCHARGED today then I’m positive others (who don’t look at their receipts) have also been when paying with cash and are either receiving the wrong amount of change or getting charged the 3.8% card fee. You’ve been warned…check...
Read moreA tale of two bags: Storytime - there is a cashier who is delightful when my mother comes in and purchases. My mother is of grandmother age and she usually orders a few meals, so the cashier has even arranged for someone to help my mother carry the load to the car. Very pleasant.
There's another cashier that's not impressed with some customers, including my mother. The last incident was she bagged a couple of drinks in a paper bag and as soon as my mother hit the door, the bag bus and the drinks fall and crack. This cashier claimed that my mother was in a rush and that's why she didn't bag it properly (big untruth), so we had to repurchase the drinks. Nuff time the meal spill out in the car when we are not in a rush. She also dishes her preferred customers' food very "properly."
Golden Krust - you are one of the most renowned black-owned franchisee businesses for over three decades and you should have Caribbean/soul food packaging on lock by now! I'm referring to actual containers/bags and standard protocol. This shouldn't be one of the complaints that cause friction between patrons and your employees.
We're Jamaican, but I'm not with that whole - "If the employee not miserable, then the food nuh good." Nope. My mother went to buy some soup to bring to my father in the hospital, while she's sick herself. She willingly pays the full price, she don't beg discount, so she shouldn't have to leave with elevated blood pressure.
I love having access to yard food conveniently, but I don't feel good coming back to this location. My mother pulled an "I'm going to speak to the manager" but I don't know the manager just Google (she says he's a good person). I love seeing us be successful, but I love being in spaces where my mother is treated respectfully as a...
Read moreWELP, my secret shopper experience is always a joy when there is a positive review to be had. Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurant deserves a 10 star rating. Immediately upon entering this restaurant . The different smells of the food smacks you in the face. This is important due to many restaurants smells can consist of chemicals . I was immediately greeted by Mr. Richard . It says a lot when a customer is greeted with great eye contact & a friendly smile. A lot of businesses tend to have employee's either on their phone or have an attitude. Not here @ Golden Krust ! Upon looking around . I noticed the restaurant was Super Clean !! Ms. Archer who was also very friendly & inviting. She was making sure the restaurant remained spotless. I chuckled to myself while watching her work diligently. If she cleaned those tables anymore . She would be cleaning the color off the spotless tables - LoL !! The food was amazing !! In conclusion, Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurant was truly a very positive experience. The customer service from Mr. Richard was top notch. Ms. Archer is definitely a great asset to the restaurant. Thank you both for great customer service & fantastic food .
