I live very close by in MDR and have been to Killer Shrimp before so really wanted to check out their breakfast restaurant attached on the south side of the building called Killer Café. I will say that the food taste and quality is pretty good although the service was horrible. Inside is very large with a large counter area and booth seating and each booth is very large and could comfortably sit at least six people. There is also a free parking lot attached so parking is really easy.
The issue that we had was we arrived at 10:30 for a Saturday brunch. When we walked in the server said have a seat anywhere you like. So we sat in the very first booth, among many other open booths. Many servers passed by us and as well as other employees but no one came to take our drink or food order or even check in with us for over 25 minutes. Finally, the older woman working there came over and said there was a mixup in how they are assigning tables and tried to explain it away, but she didn’t even say sorry or offer any consolidation or even make the issue right. One of the other servers overheard this and came over and took our order after waiting about 30 minutes. After that they expedited the order but everything took much longer than it should have. Also, pricing is more expensive here because you are paying for proximity to the water. However, the food quality is not to par with what they charge.
I started off with a slice of the Cinnamon Roll Cake and it felt much more like a piece of cake versus a traditional cinnamon roll. It was pretty dense so I would not recommend or order it again. For my breakfast I chose the Killer Shrimp Benedict, which I enjoyed for the most part although my eggs were a bit overcooked and the few pieces of shrimp just really did not fill me up.
Overall, I would give this place another try to see if the service was a one time issue given how close it is to where I live. I will say that it is not my favorite breakfast restaurant in the area, but I am going to give it a one more try in the future to see if I just got unlucky...
Read moreI was ready to enjoy the view at this place with the company of my lovely wife ,but guess what? It was NO SERVICE AT ALL .
Sitting outside looking the view of the marina and reading the menu ,I asked the waiter to switch tables to get a better view . I think my mistake was talking his lenguaje ,because after that we only got two glasses of water . Nothing more nothing less .
Some gentleman coming downstairs to asked us if we need something along with some name ‘Giovanni’ will be with you guys shortly .
I don’t know how ‘shortly ‘ that can be ,because another couple arrived after us ,started getting drinks and the service right away.
WE WAISTE 45 MINUTES OF OUR DAY TRYING TO GET FOOD!!!!
If I want to switch tables in a place that is EMPTY I don’t see the issue on that . Maybe the manager should to explain to his employees the economic situation that the country is going through by not having enough costumers to afford going to a restaurant like this one that is not cheap and hardly the food equals the quality of the meal. I been there before ? Yes ! That’s why I came back ! That I will go again after this ? ABSOLUTELY NO FREAKING WAY!!!
Next time I should to keep my mouth shut instead to be friendly speaking the same lenguaje that the workers . Another vibe that make me feel that me and my wife are NOT welcome...
Read moreWe 3 hungry guys arrived at opening time , 4:00 yesterday….Wednesday. As soon as we stepped into the beautifully designed space we were greeted by very polite servers and managers who genuinely seemed very happy to see us. We found our way outside and sat down at one of the beautiful teak tables with comfortable chairs. Bam, no waiting the first of many servers was there to take our drink orders. Hot sake (cold is more traditional Japanese) and Sapporo for the two of us and bottled water for the non drinker. We both covered the bases with the two and then a second round later. I will not go over the whole journey describing all the lovely dishes available. Just start out with the best miso soup I’ve ever had. I suggest getting there early if you want to spend some time exploring all those specialities. Relax and enjoy the moment with that lovely, soft breeze in the covered patio. The view is fantastic. Also if you have room try the crème brûlée desert…try it even if you don’t have room. Expect to happily waddle out if you eat as much as we did. Again, I must say the staff could not have been better and so efficient. One of the managers named Brett came by the table to make sure everything was top notch…thank you Brett. Our experience...
