So despite being literally the only local spot who charges a delivery fee on apps like doordash, we order eight tacos at a cost of $45 delivered. And despite being expected by everyone ordering tacos, we make two separate special requests on the order for salsa from their salsa bar. Sadly, not a single cup of salsa was received with an order of eight tacos. So right off the bat the meal is ruined. Noone eats tacos without salsa.
Order: 4 crispy chicken tacos, 2 crispy potato tacos, 2 soft chicken tacos.
Received: 6 soggy chicken tacos, thoughtlessly wrapped in aluminum foil -steaming the shell soggy and overcooking the meat within seconds- attached image. Soft chicken tacos were likewise received with dry overcooked chicken.
Instead of leaving a negative review, as a business owner myself and someone who's enjoyed eating tacos almost daily for nearly half a century -somewhere in the realm of 10,000 times, this being the first without salsa being included, never once having to ask, I decide to call and offer the invaluable gift of customer feedback. The call was made prior to discovering the condition of the tacos themselves, so it was solely regarding the absence of salsa in an order of tacos.
The owner answered, and I began with complimenting the food before offering the constructive concept that people expect to receive salsa with their tacos and it would be nice to get salsa with my tacos next time I order. Sadly, instead of the obvious response of - 'gee, I completely agree, since everyone expects salsa with their tacos its a no brainer that we ought to be including salsa' - the owner got argumentative and began patronizing me with his credentials as a 35 year chef, like that has some relevance to not including salsa with tacos. It gets better; he begins to give me his schedule so I can be hassled with calling when I order delivery so I get special treatment and receive salsa with my tacos. Appreciate the offer, but having to go out of my way to call and speak with the owner just to have salsa provided with tacos is a bit ridiculous.
Considering Southern California has more great choices for tacos than Mexico, with an owner response like that to a customer offering constructive feedback, I won't be ordering from this spot again. Never mind the fact that I, like every other person, expects to receive salsa when ordering tacos, and prefers crispy tacos crispy not soggy, steamed, and falling apart. Complete...
Read moreA really solid quick and casual to go Mexican restaurant in Marina del Rey. The portion sizes are pretty small, but the flavors are honestly really good. It’s also attached to a small shopping center so there is plenty of free parking right out front, which is rare in LA. Pricing is fair and the staff was actually very polite and friendly. Stopped in last night for dinner and everything was ready within 10 minutes. It’s quite small on the inside, they have the ordering counter, salsa bar, and a few tables inside and out, but most people seem to get it to go, which is what we chose to do.
As you would guess they have a lot of classic items on the menu and for my first visit I decided to go with a Grilled Fish Burrito and really enjoyed it. Growing up in San Diego my favorite is a California burrito, but I can’t really find those flavors in LA so I try to mix it up since I’m an Angeleno now. I added avocado which I would suggest and really enjoyed the burrito. It was pretty small so I finished it quickly, but the flavors were nice. I also ordered a Carne Asada and Chorizo Taco for $3 each and enjoyed both but they are also street taco sized. You can easily knock the thing out in two bites. Aside from the portion sizes I really enjoyed my meal and I will definitely stop in again since I live...
Read moreReally good authentic Mexican food at really reasonable prices. I usually get the bean and cheese burrito or the cheese enchiladas. Both are really good, the beans are cooked perfectly and melt in your mouth. The enchiladas are made to perfection with really good sauce on them. The customer service is not the best, they are not rude, They just not that friendly. Can get pretty busy at lunch time so I usually go around 1:30 after the rush. UPDATE I went there for lunch today, the lady helping me (Fabby) was super rude. She had a very unpleasant look on her face. She was very impatient when I was ordering. She never once said, hello, thank you, can I help you, just had a mean look on her face. After I ordered my food she tried kicking me out because I had a service dog with me, after I explained to her I wasn’t leaving she got even more angry. When my order came up she just sat it on the counter and never called my name. I can’t understand why an establishment would want someone like this representing them. Because of her I won’t be back and I changed the rating from...
