Penn Station has great food. I was excited that a location opened in Marion. My first visit was very pleasant. They are clean, the food was on par with other Penn Stations, and the service was good.
My second visit changed all of that, and pretty much guaranteed I'll just bring Penn Station from Columbus and pass this location by.
I regularly frequent this particular chain, and always get the same thing. I order my cheese steaks with light onion; my wife regular. This sandwich was loaded with onions to the point of being inedible (house still smelled of onions the next day). Twice as many onions as regular, without the request for light. So many onions that they couldn't be well-grilled and we're still hard (forget about carmelized). The pile of removed onions far outweighed meat and cheese and was almost as large as one half of the sub, which was cold by the time the onions were removed (and everything still tasted like an onion sandwich). I've really never seen anything like it, but that's a mistake, and mistakes happen.
But their response was not a mistake. Do not blame the customer. Do not accuse the customer of lying. Do not tell me it is my job to oversee the cook and instruct them how to do their job, even if cooking does happen right up front, particularly once the order has been made and clearly indicates a special request. I am legitimately owed a sandwich, which they eventually reluctantly offered. However, due to their behavior, I will most likely not claim it. Instead, I will take my $10-$30 every week elsewhere....
Read moreEdit after 5 business days, we finally received our reimbursement. The “Manager” of the store sent me a text letting me know.
Resolved, yes. Properly resolved, after being called a liar and essentially saying we were trying to “scam” them, no. I will NEVER be returning to this establishment. My online order was nothing more than an inconvenience to their business. It messed our entire night up to have to deal with this because of a problem with their internal systems & they do NOTHING more than making us a wait 5 days for a reimbursement. Customer service is a lost art and yet we wonder why people don’t want to spend their money in town and these small business can’t make it. They have no back bone. No true customer service experience and certainly no empathy.
Stole $40 from me & they don’t treat women well.
Ordered online, order never came through apparently, my card has already been charged, owner won’t issue refund or make food even though we can show order confirmation and bank statement charge, wife was in tears after conversation with GM, I call and he immediately backs down and says let me call my boss, never received a call back. Just go to...
Read moreAs far as cuisine choices, Penn Station is somewhere between Chipotle and BDub’s. However, the moment I walked through the door I knew this would be a special experience. I was greeted in the most friendly manner by the sandwich artist, and then again by the young gentlemen who took our order. My particularly hard to please friend requested crispy bacon on her sub, and boy was she satisfied beyond her wildest expectations. Every bite was the perfect blend of crunch and flavor.
The onions were impeccable, the ratio of honey mustard to mayo on the grilled club was ideal, and the fries came out fresh and hot.
The bathroom was as clean as can be expected…I have experienced way worse.
My only complaint was how hard I had to pump the ketchup because some kept oozing out the top. Lots of pumping for little to no result.
The sandwich artist made sure we left with a warm goodbye. All in all, a titillating meal that I will cherish...
