Although the store replied below, they never followed up.
August 23rd, 2024 Friday.
Me and my wife pulled into the drive thru about 13-15 minutes before close yesterday, we normally wouldn’t do this but figured smoothies were fast and should be easy to clean and another car was already at the window before us, we had been having a rough week due to the passing of a family pet and my grandmother recovering from a risky surgery. I decided to give Smoothie King a try as an end of the week pick me up, it was our first time coming here.
We pull up to the intercom to order and hear someone scream inside the building and then storm out the back door, pace and then walk back inside before Nate started taking our order. He said he couldn’t hear us at first and seemed to have a bit of an attitude contradicting every good review about him I see here.
We apologized, spoke up and placed our order, a kids angel food smoothie and a regular sized strawberry lemon twist. We pull up and wait for the car ahead of us to leave and get to the window and he hands us one of our drinks and a receipt. We were both confused as we hadn’t paid yet, thinking the car ahead of us paid I look at the receipt and it says “team member discount. name: “Why””
I didn’t understand at first and thought a mistake had been made, when one of the two female (blonde and a brunette, didn’t get their names but should have) employees came back with our second drink, we had mentioned we didn’t pay yet. They seemed confused too and Nate said “oh I gave it to them for free” we said “thank you” and went to pull away but our window was still open when we heard Nate snottily say “yeah, since you came 5 minutes before close” my wife was shocked, pulled back around to get his name and get an explanation for the unwarranted attitude. They were laughing inside the store until the brunette employee saw us back at the window, mouthed “oh she’s back” and then both female employees opened the window and sat with there elbows on the window counter, chin on their hands being smartasses and giggling about the situation. We asked for Nate’s name, explained the attitude and comment he made was unnecessary, none of them know what kind of day we’ve had and it’s not our fault they decided to close up shop before it was time, if it was an issue of taking our order simply tell us you aren’t accepting orders and we would’ve left. Nate argued he didn’t mean it like that but how else could he have meant it when he assumed we were gone and unable to hear and put “Why” on our receipt as a snarky jab? The female employees continued to laugh about the situation and mock us, claiming “it’s his opinion”, and then pushed Nate out of the way and closed the window on us and continued to make fun of the situation.
The receipt that Nate had printed off and handed to us when we finally got to the window had a timestamp of 8:52 PM, well before closing at 9 and plenty of time for 3 employees to mop the floor, take trash out and close one register.
We threw both smoothies away as we didn’t trust with the attitude given in both interactions that they didn’t tamper with them somehow.
He’s entitled to his opinion just fine, but it’s his job to work the hours that the store is listed as open and instead of instigating a situation, if he can’t handle himself or customers he has options, tell the customer he’s no longer taking orders and move on or simply quit and let someone that can handle the job take his position.
I’ve worked retail and service for decades and I’ve never treated anyone like this in my life.
100% will never be back and I wouldn’t recommend this location to anyone, Nate and the two little girls he was with last night are snakes that clearly have two different personas based on the time of day and no one deserves to be treated like we were.
Management or the franchisee should clean house and properly train employees on time management, basic things like store hours, and etiquette because clearly the employees there now...
Read moreI don’t recall ever writing a review, but maybe a time or two. This afternoon we loaded up the expedition with the five kids and headed to Smoothie king. This is a trip we take maybe twice or so a month. This prices are exorbitant but we tread on. Today we ordered our smoothies and when we got to the window the first employee said “sorry sir next time your back you will need to come in the store and place your order, you cannot order more than 4 smoothies in the drive thru” . Here I am, a dedicated customer and the only people at the smoothie king at that moment. We had just paid $41.93 for our smoothies. I responded with “I will not do that” then I assume the manager came and started explaining to me this is a corporate rule and they won’t serve me next time through the drive thru. Well here you go, your prices are too high but we continued, the last thing I’ll deal with is being turned away from the drive thru when I have twins in car seats and three more kids in the back & arguing to do business with you. It was an incredibly clean location, very organized and in order. Incredible amount of choices, that at first looked slightly overwhelming, but, the customer service was phenomenal.
Devon, made our smoothies and when we informed her we'd never been in one before today she gave us an incredible informative and helpful run down of the menu, and, you could tell she truly loved and lived by the product. She was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and our smoothies were absolutely delicious.
