My fiancé and I were on Main Street looking for some late night food and someone suggested Taco Daddy’s, so we wanted to give it a try (seeing as it was one of the only places close by that was still open). We went around 945PM on a Friday. This night in particular they changed the inside into a night club and had all you can eat tacos until midnight after purchasing a 25$ wristband. We solely went there for food for my fiancé and they were set up out front with all the taco fixings. We were greeted by Sarah who is an absolute delight! She was super friendly and we enjoyed the conversation while my fiancé chowed down on 10 tacos! The only thing that really sucked about the whole experience was lack of borders when ordering and unprofessionalism by this young woman with long red hair and dimples. We were told by Sarah that it was all you could eat until midnight and we could order as many as we liked. My fiancé is a bodybuilder and weighs in at a hard 245 pounds of solid muscle. He eats…ALOT! I was not hungry and just wanted to accompany him before returning to the airbnb for the night. When we went to purchase the wristband, we purchased one…because my boyfriend was the only one eating. When we came back outside to place our order with Sarah for 15 tacos, the young woman standing with her became really rude and crass. She started to openly throw shade towards my fiancé and I for ordering so much to the people around her, and questioned if all those tacos were truly for him. Which in a way I understand, but the way she went about it was awful and unprofessional. She was super condescending towards my fiancé and I and made him feel very uncomfortable. If you’re going to have an “all you can eat” promo, it would be helpful to put parameters around it so there is an understanding between the consumer and the business. It’s also helpful to have people like Sarah who are professional and friendly and provide additional training to staff members on how to address customers with kindness and professionalism. Even after the young woman with red hair walked away from the set up to ask (whom I assume was the owner/manager) if we could do that, came back and said we could only order 5 at a time, Sarah still was making our 15 tacos in increments of 4 to fit in the box. After the 10th taco and some friendly conversation with Sarah, we called it quits and went on home. Communication is key and please remember to treat everyone with kindness...
Read moreI get tacos several times a week, both from authentic food trucks in Oakland for lunch, and from Cinco De Mayo in Martinez. An authentic Mexican street taco, is a simple dish, with a high quality, restaurant-made tortilla, quality asada or pastor, and a hefty sprinkling of cilantro and onion. This is what I expected I would get at "Taco Daddy's" who advertise themselves as a street taco restaurant. This is absolutely not the case.
Served on store bought tortillas, the asada was average, 5/10 asada. These first two parts of the taco weren't the problem, though. The problem is the lack of cilantro and onions, and these essential toppings replaced with a massive scoop of the sweetest "salsa" I've ever tasted, mixed with some sort of white cheese (feta?!?). All I could think about when I was eating my tacos was "this taco tastes just like spaghetti", because the massive dallop of "salsa" was more reminiscent of marinara sauce than anything. The "street tacos" that are served here are far from the cheap and simple authentic street tacos found throughout California, and this is what I have a problem with.
It is fine to come up with your own take on tacos, but I would really advertise it as something besides a street taco, so that people expecting tacos that taste like street tacos aren't hugely disappointed. Being that everyone else gives this place five stars, I guess they are doing something right. But it just isn't what someone who enjoys street tacos on a daily basis would consider a good, honest, Mexican...

First time in the area and was pleased with the environment: Though parking can may become an issue, I was fortunate to find one near by. Eating out doors was also a treat but that could be because of that days weather. Indoors, this can be challenging to find seating as the spacing is tiny but... they are only open till 3p too so that might not be that bad. While on that, 3p is a little early but that could be due to staff and being a fairly new restaurant.
The restaurant itself: the experience was very much a warm welcome by the employees. From what I recall, they are twin sisters. The owner was in the back working and delivering food to customers tables so I couldnt really engage or interact with him. From what I saw, he genuinely cares about his customers.
Now, the food: im no Mexican cook or chef but I have tried my rounds for some time and these tacos were "cute" and delicious. Personally, I would have liked to have more meat (im huge on protein:) and side chips or vegitables but what do you expect from a growing restaurant. Im sure they will learn and keep doing better. There's also this sauce they use which is like sweet but spicy at the same time... it basically leaves you wanting more tacos.
Overall, this place, food and experience was great. Its too soon to be critical and as I have said, they are growing. Im sure, with facilitative feedback over time, they are going to do really well.
PS... make burritos and im...
