IHOP — Restaurant in Maryland

I was quite disheartened by my last visit - 7.1.24 about midnight. My friends and I, 6 total, arrived after our fashion show ready to close the night out in fellowship. An employee was seated in a booth nearest the kitchen door, as if he was on break and there was one other, red-headed sister loc sister, walking about. We waited close to 10 minutes to be seated. It was not at all crowded, but we waited. Not a problem. The 6 of us were given a booth to squeeze into. The gentleman that was seated asked us of we wanted a larger table, which we were grateful for. The woman moved some tables together finally and we sat. Within minutes she triple seated the booths lining the wall of the kitchen with three 2-tops. The three 2-tops all had drinks before even our drink orders were taken. We gave the whole order at once. We waited a little while, and all of the 2-tops had FOOD before we'd even been served drinks. Don't get me wrong, I understand the thought process about a party weeding the kitchen and such, but there was very nearly NO ONE else seated but our four tables. We were very confused and felt neglected because our waitress addressed us as if she had not a single care in the world, very flippant. We walked out. Another patron walked out the front door after us, food in hand, after standing at the front door nearly 10 minutes. Again, it was late, sure, but the treatment we received seemed unwarranted and ruined our appetites. It will be a long while should we frequent this particular location again, if ever, at any time of day...

I thought that the issues with this ihop were because I ordered delivery before. Not the case.

I sat in the waiting area for 15 minutes without anyone attending to their tables in the dining room or coming out to the waiting area.

I then called the ihop and the phone number was sent to voicemail so the phone did not even ring.

I then went to dining room area where I could clearly hear waitstaff laughing and joking w/profanity. And I asked if anyone was taking orders. A member of the waitstaff that was clearly eating comes out and says that he will take my order in 5 minutes because they were “trying to get orders out”.

I continue to wait for a waiter or waitress for 15 more minutes. And ONE Togo order comes out as some of the tables in the restaurant stand and then walk past me grumbling/half-joking complaints about actually going in the back to cook the food themselves because of the long wait.

One table that had not been served got up and totally left. I then still ordered my food and was quoted a 15 min order time for a 2x2x2 modified with crepes instead of pancakes. I told the guy who took my order who was clearly maybe an expediter or some other staff that I would wait to pay the check and add tip until I got my order. Which I still gave an appropriate amount…IHOP always has good food tho and staff was pleasant once present.

But IHOP get em some help they...

I walked over from the hotel for breakfast. It was extremely crowded. They told me it would take 20 minutes it took more like 8. The restaurant is clean it was jam-packed and the service is impeccable! My waiters name was Xavier. very cordial, polite, and extremely attentive. I should know I asked him on three or four separate occasions to correct something that I completely forgot. He did not miss a beat. he was so polite and wonderful I doubled his tip.

I ordered a senior breakfast packaged up half to go. Then ordered another dinner to go. I steer clear of any types of fried chicken but decided to order the 2 piece fried chicken dinner with spinach and mashed potatoes. Took a taste test of a piece and it was fabulous absolutely fabulous! Juicy crunchy moist completely surprised at the magnificent flavor. I got their house salad I love they use red onions and fresh tomatoes, I also had my favorite blue cheese dressing I added a couple of pistachios and made it my own.

Saved by ordering from the senior menu and even more if you're staying across the street at the red roof inn+ (great bargain) you also get 15% off! Talk about a deal.
