Checkers — Restaurant in Maryland

This was both the worst food, and service, that I've had in recent memory. We were on a trip through town and ordered ahead to save time waiting, but when we arrived no one would answer the pickup window - literally someone was inside, looked at us, then hid from view until we knocked on the window the third time. He then told us there was no order, but when we showed the receipt he suddenly found it. I noticed that while he had gloves on there were several holes in them with his fingernails poking out - which made me not want to eat the food, but decided to anyway. Mistake: the soda was completely flat, the fries were cold and what my dad described as "gummy", and my mom's onions tasted rancid. The rest of the food was barely edible and we ended up throwing it away. I was initially interested in checkers because it had such a fun 1950s diner aesthetic. It was also busy, which is a good sign that the food is good. When I drove up, they were advertising brisket sandwiches, has a little skeptical of a good brisket sandwich from a fast food place. So I ordered it along with loaded fries and a number two meal. The seasoned fries were excellent! Perfect amount of seasoning! The loaded fries were too salty for me! The brisket sandwich was amazing and I tasted the burger and it was delicious as well! Overall, the food was excellent and if you’re looking for a nice bite to eat, I would recommend. One funny thing to look out for is a sign on the window dated back to 2020 saying that says they will no longer be giving plastic straws due to the local laws, but they absolutely gave me a plastic straw! Saturday May 17th 2025 at 11:45pm I pulled behind the checkers at rivertown to place my mobile order as soon as my payment went through I went through the drive-thru you have a cashier young lady that's light skin with some nappy tan tracks(weave) in her hair . She had a very nasty disposition about ourselves with a sarcastic attitude. All I ask is can I have lettuce and tomato and mayonnaise wasn't giving me that option on the app remind you I just placed my order right beside the restaurant. She replied no because your food is already made like you could not unwrapped it to make that for a customer she charges me 10 cents for mayonnaise to place on my sandwich but still never gave me the lettuce or the tomato. Wow her customer service was gone...
