My favorite local Mexican restaurant and by a wife margin. It is a safe go to anytime we can't decide and want a delicious meal in a great atmosphere with outstanding service. Without a doubt one of the best locally all the way around. I've never had anything negative or even close happen. The worst thing I can recall was the wrong protein in an entree which was corrected immediately. I can't recommend Rio Grande highly enough. On the rare occasion I go out these days if my wife and daughter want to dine out they know if they mention going to Rio Grande I say yes every time. Meny us large and varied, the selection is authentic and delicious and the atmosphere is uobeat, clean and inviting. They serve alcohol, and the margaritas are fantastic as well as reasonably priced. They also make fresh guacamole table side which is fun to watch and is as good as I've ever had. If you haven't already found this gem do yourself a favor and stop in I can't think of anywhere I have enjoyed this much and with ridiculously reasonable prices to oot. If I could give them 10 stars would Rio Grande is...
Read moreNo nonsense review right here… First thing, the staff are very friendly and helpful, they’re always there to help and the service is pretty good. But what makes me skeptical about the food, is that you sit down and place an order, the food came out so fast (within 5 minutes after ordering) which makes me believe that the food is not made “to order”. It felt like they had the meals already laying around and just heated up and delivered out to you. The taste of the food was very mediocre, not much different from any other Mexican cuisine place. I got the lunch special #11 which the price for the amount of the food was very reasonable. But now I understand why it was that cheap. I’ve been home 6 hours after I ate there for lunch and I have been constantly running to the toilet from midnight to 8 am being woken up in the middle of the night. Never once in my life have I had Mexican food abuse my stomach and digestive system like this but it is beyond unpleasant. If you have a bad past history with Mexican food I highly recommend not...
Read moreMy server had no personality, and seemed like we were a bother to her. We did receive our food and drinks quickly, and the prices were very reasonable.
The food was a poor imitation of authentic mexican food. Sauces lasted like they came out of cans, and had little to no flavor. Taco shells were the premade shells you can buy in the grocery store or get at any Taco Bell. The meat was flavorless, which was compensated for by drowning the item in cheese. My tortilla for my enchilada wasn’t cooked all the way. It seemed that they knew in theory how an item should be presented but there was no soul in how it was prepared. It was nothing more than glorified fast food.
I’m of Mexican descent, and I could’ve prepared the food better in my own home. My husband who is not, could have also prepared it better. There’s not too many options for Mexican food here in Cumberland, but I think I’d rather just stay home and cook it myself when I have a craving for it. You’re only paying for the atmosphere of dining in a Mexican...
