I would love to leave a 0 star review however that option is not available. My wife and i ordered a dozen crabs for fathers day with overnight shipping. On the day the crabs were supposed to be delivered we get an email saying they would not be able to fulfill their delivery for fathers day. My wife contacted the company and spoke to a lady named Tory who offered to upgrade our crabs to the next largest size or add some "extras" to our order for the inconvenience. Being as things happen outside of people control we accepted their offer and waited for the delivery to be made a few days after fathers day. Welp...we should have cancelled right than and there as when the crabs finally did arrive there was nothing that was promised. While i was irritated the crabs were late i was angered that they had welched on their side yet again. Furthermore my father informed me that while they were a lovely gesture that he would not be eating them as the ice packs were warm when they arrived at his house. By now my wife was angry as well and called the company yet again. After getting the run around for over 30 mins the message was relayed from the owner (Greg Daily) that we were to send the crabs back to them as verification in order to get a refund. This clearly was an absurd request as the box of undersized crabs were sitting in the heat cooking up a nice ripe smell. It was a this point that I began calling the company as i felt i needed some answers. The lady who answered the phone made it pretty clear between her snarky comments and nervous chuckles that they weren't going to stand by their product. I was promised a call back from Tory as she wasn't available. A week went by with no call back so i called again and this time Tory answered the phone. At this point a replacement was out of the question i wanted a refund however Tory decided it was to much trouble to address my concerns considering they had already gotten my $200 and some dollars. In the end i will have to go to my credit card company and dispute this charge as we received terrible service through out the whole ordeal not to mention blamed for what was clearly a screw up on their end considering the packaging and shipping of crabs is their job. The moral of the story is i should have read their recent reviews which are nothing but negative and stayed far away from this cesspool of a "business". As an after thought my wife and i compiled all the voicemails, pictures of uneaten crabs sitting by the trash can, phone calls, etc. should this establishment seek to discredit our claims. its unfortunate that my first yelp review would have to be negative but when a company makes it clear they are a moral hazard i have no choice but to try and caution others so they don't experience the same thing as my family...
Read moreI wouldn’t even give a 1 star if possible . Ordered half a bushel today and got home and it’s clear they were restored. Cold in the middle and completely empty shells. All the claws are loosely in the box and they are horrible. We love 40 minutes away and wish we didn’t we would take them all back. So I’m adding to this review. We just spoke with the manager and he said bring them back for a refund went back and all the sudden he left for the beach and the snubbing girl Tory that waited on us said they would give us half money back because we opened 4 crabs. Apparently these are normal crabs for this trash hole of a seafood place because they said fishy and empty and cold was normal. We are going to get real crabs and will post a picture for you Tory of what real crabs should look like . Worst customer service ever and I an in customer service myself. This manager who guarantees a refund dips out before we get there . What a joke of a place. I recommend never going here to order anything more then dog food. We went to seafood market on Ritchie highway and got awspme crabs freshly steamed and hot and not fishy. So def go there. This place is absolutely horrible. I can’t reply to the owner comment but Greg have u read your reviews . Your have a 3.5 rating on here. I also work in this field and I pay my way always and never want anything free. Dnt think I would drive all that way to bring back good crabs and if that is the quality you call good the. I’m very sorry you have been underexposed to quality. Tory was very rude. We opened 4 crabs . The volume in the box was all loosely thrown in crab claws and they were cold. As soon as we told the new place we got crabs that we just got ripped off they said let me guess crab depot and 4 people in line all said dnt ever go there . If you would have made good on the deal and steamed us fresh crabs we would have left a fantastic review but you didn’t. You didn’t care we drove 34 40 minutes back with trash crabs . At my work we always want a return customer so we make sure they leave happy and satisfied not mad and insulted . But I dnt expect much more from a 3.5 rating. Anyhow maybe of you would respond with a thank you to your very few good reviews instead try to defend and defenseless argument with a customer maybe you will get better feedback. As a customer service representative this is horrible business on your part. 49 % of return customers do so because of the service not the food . If service is good makes you wanna day another chance is worth it but when service is rude and insulting nobody returns. Read moreWe do not recommend buying from the Crab Depot (also advertised as the Mid-Atlantic Crab Company online). They presumably will pack your seafood order (online or phone in) and ship to you overnight anywhere in the US. We recently bought soft-shell crabs and shrimps from the place (as gifts for out-of-state relatives) and called the day before for pick-up the next morning just before a 10-hr drive to another state. The woman who answered the phone has no idea about the specials they prominently advertised on their website when we asked about them; instead, she tried to quote us a much higher price (should have been a red flag to us I guess). We took her through the specials (Jumbo Soft-Shell Crabs and Premium Extra-Large Gulf Shrimps) and the prices, and she agreed those were advertised as the specials and we can have them. We confirmed multiple times our order of Jumbo soft-shell and Extra-large shrimps in details (price, quantity, size of the crabs and shrimps) during our call. They packed everything in a Styrofoam box with gel packs when we picked up our order the next morning. When we arrived at our destination, we found out that the soft-shell crabs were NOT jumbo size but medium at best (less than the 5-6 inches that were advertised), and the shrimps were definitely NOT extra-large (advertised as 16-20 shrimps per pound) but the cheaper medium size (actually said so on the inside box of frozen shrimps: 31-35 smaller shrimps per pound). This is extremely disappointing, embarrassing, and infuriating because we paid a lot of money for the premium size but received items that were clearly less than that and cheaper. We therefore cannot recommend the place because the business is either dishonest or incompetent. Either way, it’s amazing that they are still in business and we will definitely not return to buy from them again. It’s better to buy your seafood from other crab places in Maryland which has many and will ship too. Don’t waste your money at this place. Oh by the way, Crab Depot will charge you an additional $11 for each Styrofoam box to pack the stuff (even though we spent over $100 on our order). This place will...
