This place has gone downhill since I first had it in 2018 / 2019. I got a Jerk chicken plate with cabbage and rice and peas and a side of plantain And my husband got the jerk chicken and pork sub on coco bread. I ordered and paid online and got there 30 minutes later and still waited 20 more minutes for my food , which was almost given to another customer who was there before me. The chefs seemed to be confused and fumbling around but the place didn’t seem very busy at all! They had 2 tables waiting for food and 3 waiting for carry out. So I didn’t understand what the fuss was. The customer who I mentioned was there before me asked the woman when his order would be out and she said “give me a minute” and then did nothing but put cakes in the refrigerator and keep preparing bags that didn’t even have food ready for them yet! He waited patiently for 3 minutes to go by and asked again about his food and still no answer. He bout asked for his money back but then they came to the counter with food bagged. If it wasn’t for that customer reading the receipt taped to the bag he would have left with MY food and not what he paid for! When I finally did get my food I peeped in the container to make sure it was all there and went home which is about 7 minutes away. Sat down to eat, the chicken was cold and lacked jerk flavor kinda just tasted like regular grilled chicken that had been thrown back in the grill in attempt to be reheated. The cabbage lacked seasoning and flavor. The sub was not on cocoa bread like it had always been before it was on 6 dinner rolls that just hadn’t been pulled apart. The fries he had were cold as well. The time we went before this trip the food was bad too but I said let’s try again. But I will NOT make that mistake again. $40 for what?!? Just save your money! Maybe the food truck is better or something idk. 🤷🏾♀️ I hope they can fix the food and service cause it’s definitely nothing like it used to be. If you want some seriously GREAT Jamaican food go to Ocean Blui Grill in Waldorf it’s in the food court at the mall. You won’t be disappointed! Definitely worth the drive...
Read moreThis restaurant has made it into our family's top list of restaurants, even after just one visit. We have a number of allergies to contend with, including dairy and wheat (needing gluten free). We stopped in one day to see if this might be a suitable restaurant for the future and we had a great conversation where all of our allergy questions were answered with care. It takes a lot of trust in a restaurant to dine out when you have severe allergies and it was so amazing to have questions answered in such a confident way that we didn't have to feel nervous or fearful about trying the food. The jerk chicken and shrimp options both fit this need and were amazingly delicious on top of that. Our group tried the jerk chicken, plain shrimp, jerk trio and jerk chicken tacos, with sides of white rice, fried plantains, French fries, festival, Mac n cheese and sauteed cabbage. It is hard to find food that is safe for our family members but also tasty - we are already making plans to try to book this restaurant for catering for a large event we are hosting next year. My son said the French fries were the best he'd ever had, and as I was told usually happened after customers had questions about the food, all plates were eaten clean. We are excited to have another safe restaurant to have on our list and we can't wait to eat here again. I only wish we had gotten pictures - but it smelled and looked so tasty that we were diving in before we could...
Read moreSo I was at the Verizon store yesterday. I needed to use the restroom and was told to go over to the Jamaican grill. I walk in and immediately hear reggae music and I'm like wow, how have I never been here?! As I LOVE reggae music 🎵. So I finish up at Verizon And head over to the Jamaican grill. I needed to transfer everything from my old phone to my new phone. Just wanted to sit somewhere And eat and get my phone straight. I figured this would be perfect. I got there at probably 1:45ish told the lady it was my first time there And asked her what she recommended. She recommend the jerk chicken wrap So that's what I got. No mention that they were getting ready to close. So I'm sitting down minding my business eating my wrap And a man at 2:04 walks up to me And informs me that they are closed. They close at 2:00. Asks me to hurry up and finish and use the back door... I have been in the restaurant business for 15 years, I have NEVER told a customer that we were closed and to hurry up and finish eating. I felt extremely rushed and unwelcome. I wasn't even done half of my wrap... I just got up and walked out. I will never go back. That's not how you treat customers! It could have been handled SO...
