Today's Crab House - BRANCH AVE — Restaurant in Maryland

We stopped in when, in a whim, on our way home from Mount Vernon. My husband had a craving for crabs. It was a Sunday so we were hoping they were open.... and they WERE! At first we thought maybe me made a mistake because it looked like a fresh raw fish market. It actually is BUT they sell fresh crab as well.... STEAMED! When we asked if we could eat them there they said "Absolutely " The clientele was very friendly along with all the workers. It really doesn't look like a place that would have some of the best crabs we have ever eaten but THEY DO! VERY AFFORDABLE AS WELL!! They went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. We were the only ones eating in the dining room as other came in and out buying their food. I see now why they had a line the whole time they were there Its because they are amazing! A diamond in the rough and a extremely hidden gem! I hope many others discover this place and still give them a try. They will amaze you, I guarantee it Thanks again to all the amazing staff and clientele. ...

The place smelled good inside, is the only nice thing I have to say... We ordered the crab cake and shrimp combo, since we dont eat fried food, we asked for the grill option. Since we wanted them grilled it was an extra $2 per order. That is not a serious negative but it shouldnt cost more to have a healthier option. Anywho, the food came out in a swift time, about 10mins. The crab cake was as flat as a piece of bread, it was ALL crab filler, looked like claw meat, NO lump nor body meat pieces, and it was not hot and undercooked! The shrimp was seasoned nicely but small, not Jumbo at all. The coleslaw was watery. The only thing good about our meals were the bottle juices we got. We are from Baltimore where we pride ourselves on our seafood but we still give people the benefit of the out out of town. This food was just poorly made, there was no care for its ability to eaten nor its presentation. I would give them zero...

I gave them a 1 because you can give a half of a star. My steamed shrimp were mushy in the middle. They were pre wrapped in plastic to make things easier for them.(weighed by the lb and wrapped) It messes up your seafood so trying to make things easier for them isn't the best thing to do all the time. Crab legs one cluster 17.00 👀 and I told her to put it back an said If the wharf didn't close early I would not be here . I ended up getting fish, hush puppies, and a lb of shrimp. I enjoyed the fish and that's it. The corn in the hush puppies was hard and dry. I WON'T BE GOING BACK...
