Chipotle Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Mattoon

This is me and my husbands second time to this location. The first time was great, staff was wonderful and food was good. The food was being replenished slowly, but that’s how every chipotle is honestly. This time on the other hand was not great, but it was due to one of the employees. I believe he was a manager, at least how he was acting. He was very rude to the other employees who were trying their best under stressful circumstances. He kept rolling his eyes and making snide remarks to the employees. He ended up taking over my order after the lady put queso on my bowl when I said “no thank you”, but after she had put it on I said it was okay, he came over and took the bowl and slammed it in the trash can while saying “she said no queso and you still put it on there”. He then started asking me what else I wanted on my bowl, and I said corn, sour cream, and he rudely said “what else are you going to want besides the corn and sour cream?” So I rattled everything off and he quickly put everything on there and walked away. It’s hard to put in words, but he very clearly had the workers on edge the duration of our visit. Maybe some training in how to treat employees would be good before they lose all of them and end up having to close due to...

The food is good when they have it. A lot of times they are out of things. The other night we ordered and they were out of rice for the night. This was an online order and so we didn’t find out about them being out of rice until my husband drove 20 minutes from out of town to pick it up. We were not asked if we would like something else since they were out of the main contents of a burrito bowl and burrito. We then asked them if we could do a chips and queso to make up for the rice not being in either of our orders and they then said they were also out of chips. They did not give us the extra queso. We only got an extra tortilla. What we’ll do with that I’m not sure 😅 this is not our only encounter with them being out of some main ingredient in an order. About half of the workers I’ve seen when we’ve gone inside have just been standing around not doing much if anything. With only a few people in line it takes way too long to get through it. My wife and I have been to many Chipotles across the state of Illinois, and the Mattoon location shouldn't even be allowed to have the same name. We went there tonight and the experience was severely disappointing. First of all, they were out of cheese...how in the world does that happen?! Our daughter only likes their chicken cheese quesadilla, but she couldn't get that. My wife and I got burrito bowl, but they were out of just about everything. We are vegan so we get sofritos, but had to wait on that. We only got MAYBE a half scoop of each of the ingredients...the rice was dried out and in clumps. Our daughter had to wait for queso and chips. There were also piles of dirty dishes on the counters, hardly any customers...yet everyone seemed to be waiting on something to be made. We won't be going back to this location. Also, the chips were stale and we were still hungry afterwards, and I am not usually able to even finish my bowl...guacamole was also not fresh and...
