Shave Ice In Paradise — Restaurant in Maui

The woman who got us the shaved ice was so friendly and sweet! The shaved ice itself was also very good. A bit more of a crushed ice than shaved but let’s be honest here yall…it all tastes the same…it’s ice! The flavors I chose, mango and lychee were also delicious. The vanilla ice cream was a nice touch as well. Some people said pricing is not listed, however it is on the board when you walk in and add-on pricing is very clear (in front of your face). This was a cute shop in Maui and I would reccomend it for a quick and yummy treat! 4/5 for the atmosphere because it was a bit dark in the shop and we weren’t sure if it was open, however the friendly woman quickly asked if we were here for shaved ice to let us know they’re open! 5 for shaved ice - 3 for atmosphere. We tried it in spite of the negative reviews…I read a bunch… and the family loves it. We tried 8 different flavors and they all loved them. Sweetened Condensed milk was a nice add and some had the ice cream on the bottom. Ice is shaved when you order. To the reviewer who said the flavors were watered down, I think all get diluted by the melting ice. We were satisfied until the last bite. The couple who owns it is sweet and helpful and we would rather buy from a local vendor than a hotel store like Big Wave. Store atmosphere is all over the place and no seats inside. Syrups taste watered down offering only a hint of the desired flavor (almost like they are trying to stretch them out by cutting them down). The ice is a harder consistency than some of the better ones I’ve had. The condensed milk on top made it much better, but once that ran out I was left with a watered down flavored, block of ice. The couple behind the counter is sweet and nice, and the store had shave ice, so that’s why 2 stars.
