I had lunch with my brother and my niece to celebrate her upcoming birthday. The restaurant of choice was the Bohemian Bull in Mauldin. We arrived at 11:07 am, a good time to beat the crowd. I’ve been wanting to try this place since it opened. We started our lunch off with appetizers fried mac and cheese bites, brussel sprouts with whipped feta (at our server’s suggestion, she told us it was her favorite appetizer, I think she was trying to sell them),and the deviled eggs. First of all they have a gnat problem, I do know this happens, but we had to fan our plates and faces because of this. Out of the 3 apps we tried, the fried mac and cheese was the best. The brussel sprouts were bitter, and without any seasoning though the whipped feta was interesting, the deviled eggs did not taste freshly made, the lime zest on the eggs threw me off , and I’m still looking for that roasted corn. We should have left after we had the appetizers that did not impress any of us, but we didn’t. I ordered the Folly Cheesesteak with sliced ribeye and fries for my side. I asked our server if the ribeye was tender she said that it was. The ribeye was thin sliced, but too tough to chew. The fries were ok a little on the salty side. My brother ordered the smash burger and truffle fries , he said his food was ok. My niece ordered the classic Ruben and a side of the fried okra, that I had originally wanted to try, but I’m so glad that I didn’t. My niece very seldom does not like her food, but even she did not enjoy her food. The fried okra are whole okra pods that are battered fried, that don’t have the tops of the okra cut off. Some people may eat that, but I cut that off when I cook okra. The okra was “hard” okra that shouldn’t have been used. Yes I consider myself an okra connoisseur, and I cook it a lot especially when it’s fresh and in season. I pick right over the too big pods of okra. The breading on the okra was the only thing edible about it. I really did want to like Bohemian Bull, for the price of our meal with tip included ($50.54) to not enjoy my meal, this dining experience was a one and...
Read moreThis was our first time and everything was good and we arrived early, but found first off right off the bat that nobody had set up our table of eight even though I had called in for reservations and promised I’d come in early. Nobody seemed to have taken any care when we walked in the door as we went to get a cocktail at the bar, they then just threw together a bar top table of 8 for our group with a 3yr old and a 5 year old, in the bar section rather than in the dining food family section. They didn’t have the seating now than when we came in hour ago and our reservations were for now 6:30pm. Pisst, We played it off were easy-going so we just rolled with it.
We all ordered different things and the main person paying the bill 1/2 with my 1/2 and her 25 drink tab separate was my mother was the most disappointing as her shrimp look like popcorn shrimp for $21. She was extremely disappointed for ordering size large, but didn’t wanna make an issue in front of her guests. I’ve attached receipts and the large size pictures as many as I could, and gave a teaspoon for reference size of how ridiculously small, even the children’s shrimp looked much bigger twice the size as the adult shrimp dinner. I’m in the food biz, successful… The Shrimp are I highly recommended pulling the shrimp right off the menu or get larger shrimp and give a portion size worth $21. I’m not asking for a refund, but rather a gift check or card to returned and give a second chance. Thank you so much for our consideration in this review and I look forward to hopefully coming back into your restaurant a new guest who’s never been here to try out your food and atmosphere once again.

Read moreWent there with my sister and our families. We were a group of 9 in total. I must say that the kids meals were very generous portions, and our waiter was nice through out. I was not impressed with my steak frites, it was ok but not great. I asked for it Medium Well, but it was more on the Medium to Medium rare side. I can honestly say we will not be returning to this restaurant, we feel we were absolutely misinformed by the time the bill came. Like I said, throughout our stay there our waiter was so nice, by the time we arrived home my sister and I felt like we were taken advantage of, because the waited never informed us that 20% gratuity was already included, he just came with the handheld device, told us the total and we handed the card, (we were not given and itemized bill to pay); then he handed us the device, which prompts you to the tipping screen, I was shock at the amount of the bill because I was only paying for 2 kids meals, a steak and a sandwich 2 tap waters and 2 soft drinks, whcih summed up to $57.00 + 20% tip and tax, total was $72 and change. It was the end of the day and we were tired, I proceeded to tip 20% and when I got home I realized out waiter was double tipped. So we tipped 20% on the initial service bill $72, and then we tipped an additional 20% on the bill that included the automatic gratuity, So we wended up tipping, $25 on a $57 meal. The waiter never told us about the automatic gratuity, so it felt really dishonest. My sister and her husband did the same thing as us, because the waiter was not honest about the tipping policy. I worked in the food service industry for a very long time, so I would not have a problem tipping over 20% any day if I Wish to but I do have a problem being tricked into double tipping. it went from a good experience, to an awful one due to...
