The fries were excellent, as was the burger except for the bun getting soggy from the sauce. I asked for a different sauce and was advised I would have to get a side since that was not what they put on the burger. I went back and forth a couple of times as to whether or not I would have to pay for the different sauce. I never got an answer on that, but I was told that my alternate sauce could be put on the burger after the employee spoke to someone else. I did not get a receipt or napkins. The young lady at the window had her back to me when I pulled up to the window and was looking at her phone and speaking in an animated manner to another girl. It took a couple of minutes to be acknowledged by her. While she was polite when she did address me, the customer service was a fail. The last time I went to the same location (only about a week ago), I waited 15 to 20 minutes and was about to leave without my bowl when the employee had the person in front of me pull forward. I told her I did not appreciate the long wait and the girl said it was because the person in front of me ordered a family meal of salmon. I have no idea why that had to impact me. The bowls are over-priced, but tasty. But, they don't taste so good that I'll pay the price and put up with...

I ordered the large South of the Border bowl for $16.73 but received a small bowl which is $4 less. Beware! I'm so disappointed with this location. It has happened too many times.
Finally open! Tropical Grille is bringing healthy alternative Cuban dishes to Mauldin. The 3,000-square-foot restaurant, located at 108 North Main St., will be the largest Tropical Grille to date and will feature outdoor patio seating and a drive thru. They serve up consistently good food, fast and friendly service, huge portions and an expansive menu with reasonable prices. The restaurant uses all-natural, hormone-free meats and offers gluten-free and vegetarian meals. No complaints here! My favorite entree is the South of the Border Chop with black beans and brown rice. It's loaded with your choice of grilled chicken or roasted pork, fresh salsa and guacamole along with a fresh pita wedge to mop up with. All for around $8. It's fun to try their homemade sauces such as the signature curry mustard and jalapeno sauce. Use the convenient drive through if you'd rather call ahead and take your...
Read moreI've eaten at all of the Tropical Grille locations in the Greenville area. I was very excited when I learned that one case opening in my area. The dining space with lovely, with upstairs seating as well. The drive through service is very fast, inside the restaurant the service is okay. The front counter is always crowded with people milling about. I find the food at this lication the least authentic tasting. I am always disappointed with their pork dishes, and quite often the sweet plantains are served burnt and dry. I prefer the Hwy 14 location where you can see the food in the serving trays, and choose what looks most appealing to you. I always try to pick the crisp outer skin of the pork because that is the best tasting to me, and reminds me so much of my mother's cooking. At this location, I now only order rice, beans and sweet plantain and make a quick fried pork chop at home, and slice up some avocado. Except for the palomilla steak, everything else on the menu is just okay, not really authentic tasting...
