IF I COULD GIVE 0 STARS I WOULD!!!! I’m sorry to say this is ABSOLUTE WORST MEXICAN restaurant we have EVER BEEN TO IN LIFE! Started off w no greeting bad service and stale chips! This is mcallen, who gives stake chips at a Mexican Restaurant! This should have the warning to run but no we gave them the benefit of the doubt. They had the wrong day daily specials up the waitress saw us looking at them ordering off that menu on the wall and didn’t bother to say anything, she never checked on us we had to get up to request hot sauce and refills. The worst spent 30 sum dollars of our life the portions were told cold and no flavor!!! My carne guisada must have been made from the oldest cow in the world tough. Old rice. Over priced soup no flavor all cheese. DONT BE FOOLED HERE the pics look nothing like the yelp pics. SAVE UR TIME...

The owner is extremely rude and prejudice with no regards for the elderly or even basic respect. My mother is a 65 year old woman, retired, and has been lookin for a job after not being able to work in the hospital because of the pandemic. She went in with genuine intentions of finding a job as she hasn’t been able to. The owner stated there were no positions available. When my mother asked for her name, she refused and said “oh no no no. Get out of here. We cant help you here. Get a REAL job. Get out!”. That is exactly what she was trying to do, find a job. I am all for supporting local businesses, but not if they cannot deliver basic human decency. Surprised this business has survived this long with people like his behind it. I really hope the employees are being...

I’ve been to Alonso’s Tres Lagos four times, and overall it’s been a great experience. The service is excellent—the staff is friendly, attentive, and make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in.

So far I’ve tried the flautas, caldo tlalpeño, enchiladas de mole, bistec ranchero and the enchiladas suizas. Everything was very flavorful and comforting, definitely dishes I’d order again. The only downside for me was the enchiladas suizas—they weren’t really suizas, but instead enchiladas verdes, which was a little disappointing since I was looking forward to the traditional version.

Aside from that, everything else has been good, and the atmosphere is enjoyable. I’d recommend giving this place a try if you’re in the area. Overall, I’d give it an...

I will be writing a short review. My wife and where looking for a Mexican food restaurant with the old traditions, great tasting food with great portions. We found it. From 1 to 10, 10 being extremely satisfied. Agreed upon arrival,10. Cleanliness,10. Prompt service,10. Knowledge of daily specials and suggestions,10. Attentive with coffee,10. Portion mug for coffee,10. Food freshness and taste,10. Prices,10. We have been to other restaurants where the only think you get is two things in your plate, eggs and beans. Here at Alonso's you get 3 things. Eggs, beans, and potatoes. Plus, here's the kicker, one and a half toasted biscuit. Will we return, 10. If you are looking to get your money worth, great service and great taste, then this place is for you.

The huevos rancheros are okay, for $5.99 you get 2 eggs, refried beans, potatoes and buttery biscuits. The beans were hot and tasty, the potatoes were warm but soggy, they didn't have any special taste to them, the salsa for the eggs was just okay, the tortillas are decent , flour tortillas having a better taste, I was surprised to have biscuits with my order but they are delicious. For an extra dollar you can add two strips of crispy bacon.
