Have waited years to try this restaurant, the commercials and ads always beckon plus there's plenty of cars so something here works - sadly, not for us. Botana for 2 with veggies to the side (since it's to go so that the chips don't get soggy on the way back home) and an Enchiladas Verdes with charro beans instead of refried beans, ordered at the counter and was told 15-20 minutes and that they'd bring the order to my vehicle as it was to go and we parked directly facing the counter. It took 45 minutes and that's because an employee had already stepped outside and delivered to another vehicle that arrived after us, he did kindly stop by my window to ask what our order was then stated "Yes, your order is coming out next". Yet 20 minutes more passed so I called from the car as I could see that they were huddled at the counter and was told it's because their cashapp wasn't working to which I explained my order was paid in person and in cash and we've waited excessive time. An employee stepped out immediately afterwards which in my mind already registers that our food was just sitting. Food was packed nicely and presentation was nice however the botana states it's both beef and chicken and we didn't get chicken at all, the discussed charro beans didn't occur and our avocado was black (should have taken a pic but we just tossed it) plus excessive tostadas... it's for 2 persons not an office gathering, we'd have preferred the chicken advertised and less tostadas. Now fajita and enchiladas were tasty and may have been more enjoyable had the experience not been so negative. This restaurant is out of our to-try list and on our nope-do-not-bother-to-return list. Possibly the Harlingen location but McAllen was...
Read moreLos Asados today was not worth the money I spent. I went there to celebrate my birthday. I took my mother and my sister. My mother requested the Carne Guisada plate. She's elderly and wanted a child's plate because of the smaller portions. They refused and offerd her the Child's menu. She orderd the regular plate of carne guisada. Once the plate came, I saw the carne guisada plate and it looked disgusting. The gravy for the carne guisada was white?? The meat was tough and they have NO CLUE how to make carne guisada. My mother didn't want to return the plate, so we brought it home for our DOGS. I ordered the Mexican Fiesta Plate, which includes 2 crispy tacos, 2 cheese Enchiliada and 1 Chalupa. I requested the cheese enchilidas be hot and not warm. My plate came the crispy tacos meat was cold and even the taco shell was cold. My cheese enchiladas were cold you could see the hard cheese inside. The chalupa was just a toasted tortilla with a light spread of beans and a BOAT of lettuce. I returned the cheese enchiladas to get reheated. The plate came back and it was the lightly warm. My sister ordered the Caldo de Res and the soup was cold. Sent it back to get reheated. What's going on with Los Asados?? Did the cooks change? Ownership Change? Oh also the TEA used to be AWESOME with lime and today it was bland and NO LIME. The Cost of the plates are expensive!! The food MUST be piping hot!!. If you have a cook that is LAZY, then he's or she will drive your customers away! Los Asados is NOT the same, it's only going down hill. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. IF WE WANTED COLD FOOD WE WOULD GO TO SUBWAY. I don't even eat cold food in my home, and to go out and PAY for this food...
Read moreWe went for lunch on an acquaintance’s recommendation but I was not impressed. The food was good (not great), but I can only grant three stars due to the below average customer service. Upon entering the restaurant we noticed a sign at the hostess station indicating to sign in. The hostess, a young lady never greeted or even acknowledged us. Within a few minutes an older hostess signaled us to follow her to our table where she dropped the menus and walked off without saying a word. At most restaurants the hostess would say something like “your waiter will be with you shortly to take your order. Enjoy”, or something like that. In a couple minutes our waiter, a middle aged man, took our drink order. In a short while he returned with our drinks and chips and salsa then promptly left. After waiting an additional 15 minutes and no sign of our waiter I began to worry he may have forgotten us. It was 2:00 pm and the place didn’t seem busy. After 5 more minutes I was able to get the hostess’ attention and told her if she could find our waiter. I watched as she walked to the other side of the dining room and whispered something to him. He seemed visibly irked and promptly walked over to our table and said “yes, what can I get you”. I told him we were ready to order. Our lunch experience was ok overall but I felt disappointed with the service. Maybe the staff were...
