I finally had a night off from work, so I took my wife and son to Los Asados Mexican restaurant. After parking and entering the eatery, I guess after driving by it everyday, I was expecting a better ambiance. For one we were seated in booth were you could hear dishes clanging from the kitchen. Plus, there was a piece of plastic taped over a large opening that was at the end of our booth, with a hole torn in it no doubt. Tacky Tacky as the tape that held it to the wall. There was a good crowd in the place so I took that as a sign of good food being served. We ordered guacamole and melted queso with chorizo, guac. was basically mashed avocado, pretty standard, the melted cheese was good, they used a good cheese from Mexico. I ordered the Tampequena, a fajita sliced and served in a bland sauce with a cold crispy taco on the side, beans were ok the rice was very good. My wife ordered the green enchiladas she really liked them and she loved the rice. My son ordered the fajita plate, he enjoyed the tenderness of both the beef and the chicken. I didn't like the way his refried beans looked and I tried them, they tasted like they looked. We drank bottled Cokes from Mexico, they really do taste better than US made Cokes. Overall we had a great time, and I do want to try one of there family sized grilled meat platters.

I was disappointed with the service provided. The waiter did not speak English and was stubborn about not trying to communicate with us. Once I got my ticket, I noticed an extra charge in my bill. He claimed it was for going with all beef and not beef and chicken on my Tampiqueña beef plate. I tried to explain it said " add ground beef " on the ticket and that I did not have ground beef in my plate but, again he tried to belittle me for his lack of the English language. I decided not to keep falling with him in public and paid the bill. I called back to speak to the manager and explain my issue and the fact that the menu states the plate is a Beef Tampiqueña, not beef and chicken and the manager just kept defending the waiter after I proved my point about their false advertisement and hidden charges. This is bad business management and I will pass it on to all my acquaintances.

First the waitresses are rude in the sense they are not friendly or care that you are there. All staff carry themselves as if they have been working all week without a break and pay. They have a worn out expression and when ordering make you feel horrible. I asked for a chori-queso asked for mixed tortillas half flour the other half corn. She said they don’t sell half order, so I said fine bring me an order of flour and an order of corn, she replied so! You want 2 orders, I said yes. Well she brings 2 orders of corn and 2 order of flour. The chori-queso was slice cheese, just horrible. The fajita, rice and beans tasteless, not worth the overpriced rudeness. I had forgotten why I stop coming here years ago when they first opened. After years of this bad management, I don’t see how they are in business. BEWARE!!!!!!!!

Have waited years to try this restaurant, the commercials and ads always beckon plus there's plenty of cars so something here works - sadly, not for us. Botana for 2 with veggies to the side (since it's to go so that the chips don't get soggy on the way back home) and an Enchiladas Verdes with charro beans instead of refried beans, ordered at the counter and was told 15-20 minutes and that they'd bring the order to my vehicle as it was to go and we parked directly facing the counter. It took 45 minutes and that's because an employee had already stepped outside and delivered to another vehicle that arrived after us, he did kindly stop by my window to ask what our order was then stated "Yes, your order is coming out next". Yet 20 minutes more passed so I called from the car as I could see that they were huddled at the counter and was told it's because their cashapp wasn't working to which I explained my order was paid in person and in cash and we've waited excessive time. An employee stepped out immediately afterwards which in my mind already registers that our food was just sitting. Food was packed nicely and presentation was nice however the botana states it's both beef and chicken and we didn't get chicken at all, the discussed charro beans didn't occur and our avocado was black (should have taken a pic but we just tossed it) plus excessive tostadas... it's for 2 persons not an office gathering, we'd have preferred the chicken advertised and less tostadas. Now fajita and enchiladas were tasty and may have been more enjoyable had the experience not been so negative. This restaurant is out of our to-try list and on our nope-do-not-bother-to-return list. Possibly the Harlingen location but McAllen was...

Los Asados today was not worth the money I spent. I went there to celebrate my birthday. I took my mother and my sister. My mother requested the Carne Guisada plate. She's elderly and wanted a child's plate because of the smaller portions. They refused and offerd her the Child's menu. She orderd the regular plate of carne guisada. Once the plate came, I saw the carne guisada plate and it looked disgusting. The gravy for the carne guisada was white?? The meat was tough and they have NO CLUE how to make carne guisada. My mother didn't want to return the plate, so we brought it home for our DOGS. I ordered the Mexican Fiesta Plate, which includes 2 crispy tacos, 2 cheese Enchiliada and 1 Chalupa. I requested the cheese enchilidas be hot and not warm. My plate came the crispy tacos meat was cold and even the taco shell was cold. My cheese enchiladas were cold you could see the hard cheese inside. The chalupa was just a toasted tortilla with a light spread of beans and a BOAT of lettuce. I returned the cheese enchiladas to get reheated. The plate came back and it was the lightly warm. My sister ordered the Caldo de Res and the soup was cold. Sent it back to get reheated. What's going on with Los Asados?? Did the cooks change? Ownership Change? Oh also the TEA used to be AWESOME with lime and today it was bland and NO LIME. The Cost of the plates are expensive!! The food MUST be piping hot!!. If you have a cook that is LAZY, then he's or she will drive your customers away! Los Asados is NOT the same, it's only going down hill. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. IF WE WANTED COLD FOOD WE WOULD GO TO SUBWAY. I don't even eat cold food in my home, and to go out and PAY for this food...

We went for lunch on an acquaintance’s recommendation but I was not impressed. The food was good (not great), but I can only grant three stars due to the below average customer service. Upon entering the restaurant we noticed a sign at the hostess station indicating to sign in. The hostess, a young lady never greeted or even acknowledged us. Within a few minutes an older hostess signaled us to follow her to our table where she dropped the menus and walked off without saying a word. At most restaurants the hostess would say something like “your waiter will be with you shortly to take your order. Enjoy”, or something like that. In a couple minutes our waiter, a middle aged man, took our drink order. In a short while he returned with our drinks and chips and salsa then promptly left. After waiting an additional 15 minutes and no sign of our waiter I began to worry he may have forgotten us. It was 2:00 pm and the place didn’t seem busy. After 5 more minutes I was able to get the hostess’ attention and told her if she could find our waiter. I watched as she walked to the other side of the dining room and whispered something to him. He seemed visibly irked and promptly walked over to our table and said “yes, what can I get you”. I told him we were ready to order. Our lunch experience was ok overall but I felt disappointed with the service. Maybe the staff were...
