I'm a fan of this place's chicken. It's smoky, well-seasoned, and juicy. So when I was craving a buffalo chicken sandwich and saw that they had one in their menu, It seemed like a no-brainer for me. Sadly, it fell way short of what a buffalo chicken sandwich should be (in my opinion, of course).
Chicken The chicken breast appeared to be well dressed and with plenty of breading. Unfortunately, the breast was very overcooked and dry. Thankfully, the ranch helped but if it wasn't for that, I'd probably find myself taking a sip of tea with every bite in order to wash it down. I'm no expert cook, but maybe butterflying the breast would help prevent overcooking and avoid handing the customer a block of chicken jerky.
Sauce After a few bites, it was clear that the buffalo "sauce" was more like dark-red-colored liquid and nothing more. It had the slight aroma of buffalo sauce but no flavor. I know that the heat tolerance is different for us all, so as a reference, I typically get regular buffalo with wings and sandwiches from other places and all of them get me sweating a bit. I placed the order online and asked for extra buffalo sauce, which I don't think they added. If they did, I fear what a non-extra sauce sandwich looks like.
In the end, I was extremely disappointed in this buffalo chicken sandwich. I mean, I don't know, maybe it was shame on me for ordering a buffalo sandwich from a place that focuses on damn good chicken plates (and damn good they are). Then again, their enchilada plate is also quite impressive, so who knows. Maybe my sandwich was just watered-down. I'd love to try it again to give it a second chance, but I can't be...
Read moreWe have visited this location probably 6-7 times in the past two years. Our experiences the past two times were less than 5 star. The reasons vary. The last time 6/6/25 around 6 PM was probably our last trip in. The smell outside the restaurant was great as always but inside the aroma was off putting. Smelled like strong cotija cheese or worse . Not a good smell.
I didn’t remember them serving the sides on cardboard dishes. I am not talking about good waxed cardboard dishes but flimsy weak cardboard meant for rolls or condiments. I am glad they aren’t using styrofoam but these fell apart before I finished my street corn, which is wet. Same dish was used for my wife’s green beans with the same results. I applaud the move to be green but real dishes would also be green.
The service was very fast however the lemonade service was empty of two of the three choices. My wife asked about it and the staff made up one of them for us but we were done with dinner by the time it was ready.
The meal tasted good, it was hot and fresh. It came to the table in a flash. The price was fair for what we got. Still, with all the choices we have for restaurants in Mission, I cannot imagine why we’d go back. Maybe it’s just me but I think the quality in this store is slipping. It’s too bad because I liked their concept and I love the food. Maybe training on the correct selection of serving dishes. Figure out why it doesn’t smell as good inside as it...
Read moreWell my expectations were a lil high. Sadly i was not satisfied with food quality. I ordered the chicken & brisket plate with mashed potatoes and okra. As i entered the restaurant i got the smell if wood burning. Loved that. Once inside. That went away. Sadly. Niw the chicken tasted good. Not great. Now. I loove brisket. Here, however, was just horrible. Idk if it was just my order but all i got were fat thick chunks. No meat. So i only ate the chicken. Mashed taters were ok and the okra also. They had free refills on drinks. There was a distinct smell. I could not figure it out but it wasnt any wood burning or rotisserie smell. Was a bit unsettling. Final thoughts. Never going back again. Do i recommend it? No. I really wanted to like this place but no. For the price. No. Also. My son had the enchiladas tomtaillos. Hard pass. Barely any meat in it. So no i suggest go elsewhere. I would have taken photos but i think it may have visually looked unsettling esp the...
