We had an amazing lunch today on the patio at Southern Roots Tavern in McDonough! We just recently moved to the area, and this was one of our first local spots—and they made us feel so welcome! The atmosphere was relaxed and perfect for a sunny afternoon. We started with the jalapeño strawberry margarita—the perfect mix of sweet and spicy—and shared the cheese fries and pretzel bites, which were both delicious and great for snacking. For our mains, the Roots Burger and the Goin’ Clubbin’ sandwich were packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. Our server was friendly and attentive, and the manager, D, personally stopped by our table to check in and make sure everything was just right. She even invited us back for the live music they’re hosting tonight, which was such a thoughtful touch. Definitely a spot we’ll be returning to—great food, great drinks, and even better hospitality. So glad we found this place so early on!

My oldest wanted to come here for her birthday dinner. Nothing major just dinner with family. I already expected prices were going to be high based on being a live venue - even if we are not there during the live event.. We showed up just before 6pm just to eat. Love the atmosphere, the design and the staff. Our waitress was on point and made no mistakes or had any problems. Food came timely, little disappointed in the majority of the onion rings being stuck together - hard to share with the table and small amount for the price. The fried dill pickles were perfect. 5 people in our party, food came out together. However the burgers were a big let down. Extremely overcooked, and tasted burnt and dry. Fries were good but just on the edge of being over done. Salad done well. Still I expected more. Might come back for the appetizers but about it.

Went here for a concert this past Thursday and was really excited since it was my first time going! The atmosphere was great, and I will add before I say the rest - it was a PACKED OUT event so I already figured service was going to be a little bit of a wait since there were so many people there. It took about 35 almost 40 minutes for my order of plain fries to get back to our table, so that was kind of a bummer and it took a long time to get the check back to me but overall, it was a good experience but I think the only thing I'd order from here knowing that it would actually come out pretty quickly...is a drink. I feel like I blinked and my Sprite was in front of me, so that aspect was great!

TLDR; get the wings with Kickin' Bourbon sauce, they're fantastic you won't regret it. Stay away from their brisket. 4 stars for the wings, ambiance, good service.

Came here for the first time on a Thursday night. I was eyeing the wings as their sauces sounded excellent. On the other hand, when I saw a multitude of brisket choices I assumed they had to have great brisket. An assumption I dearly regretted.

With that being said, we ordered pretzel bites, "Wicked" Brisket Sandwich and their Thursday special of 8 wings. Food came out relatively fast even though they started getting a dinner rush. If the first bite of my wings were an indicator of how the brisket was going going be, it had high hopes. Holy smokes their chicken wings had a perfect balance all around. Excellent amount of smoke and crunch. I moved on to the brisket sandwich which turned out to be highly disappointing. Had I not ordered the wings it would've been a bad night and I would never return to this restaurant. The brisket had a weird texture as if they were cut with the grain creating a chewy and tough texture when chewing. I couldn't taste any smoke or seasoning on the brisket. The pimento cheese overpowered any other flavors coming through.

Service was pretty great for having what seemed two servers for the whole restaurant on a busy Thursday night. I wish I could remember his name, I'll have to get it next time I come. Without this gentleman's quality of service and the wings being great I would have rated this restaurant 2 of 5 stars. 1 for ambiance and 1 for service. -3 for food quality.

Please consider getting jumbo...

So we frequent SR Tavern fairly regularly mostly for a night out, mostly a group of 6+ we usually only have drinks. We recently attended for the Kid Rock tribute 2/18/23 for a birthday celebration....it was horrific. So unbelievable loud (we were upstairs) the tribute band only played two Kid Rock "hit songs". We had several people mention that they also didn't recognize any of the songs he was playing and the songs he did sing were really bad. We payed $277.00 for two tables upstairs and more than half of our group left early because it was that terrible. Also the service was a total miss. We were not eating only drinking and our server Kay couldn't get it together. She would stop by our table yell if anyone needed anything and before we could even speak she was GONE. There were several times we ordered something and had to go up to her at the computer to check on them (i.e the bar was out of a seltzer that was ordered and she never came back to tell the person that ordered it to ask what they wanted instead) I will say when it came down to split the bill she was 100% accurate, for a big group we really appreciated that. We have never had an experience here where the service and band were both bad, so we will of course be back in hopes that night was just luck of the draw. Oh also the bartender upstairs Kayla was fantastic when we ended up going to the bar for service! She has waited on us before and did a wonderful job. Do better...

I had a birthday meet up here the other day and it was really nice. My wife was able to reserve a table outside and they were able to accommodate the 8 people that showed up pretty easily. The owner mike (I believe that was his name) came by a few times to check in on us and make sure everything was going ok.

We didn't sit at an actual table, it was more like a bar table set up but that was fine because it was easier for the group to talk to each other.

The brisket sandwich was pretty good as well as the smoked wings. I really didn't hear anyone complain about there food.

Service was little slow but I think that was more due to the amount of different tickets at our table and just a lot going on inside also. It didn't really matter too much to us since we were all just talking anyway and having a couple cigars.

It's nice having a place where you can have a cigar without driving to ATL that seems friendly and just people trying to have good time.

Inside they had some sort of line dancing thing going on. Everyone in there seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Prices looked reasonable. They had a few specialty drinks that were about $9 each. But there is also a full bar so you can order what you want.

Parking was free after 6pm in McDonough so that was nice.

I...
