We had a time! This is what our area needed, it place to come and enjoy with family or friends. This place can be enjoyed as a casual outing or dressy celebration spot.
Several TVs were playing different sporting events. The bar area was packed. The table area was almost full. The bar tables along the railing was available. Some inside seating was available. And the 3 gazebos we reserved.
I'll start with the only low note and that is the tables they've added to allow for additional seating. I appreciate having more seating especially since it's a small space, but these naked tables are not a good look and they don't match the esthetic. I decided they ordered more of the tables that match the decor and these are temporary solutions. Hopefully I'm right lol.
Now to everything that was good. Our server Kensey, not sure of the spelling, was sweet and attentive. She offered menu suggestions and checked on us throughout the evening.
Music was playing when we arrived and I absolutely appreciated that it wasn't so loud that you couldn't have a conversation. But once the DJ started, that changed everything lol. The music was loud and it was instantly an outdoor party vibe. We had to lean in to talk to each other but the vibe was so good we didn't care. People, including myself, started getting up to dance on the green area in front of the DJ table. It was a perfect mix of grown folks chilling, eating, dancing and just enjoying the vibe.
The food. Spring rolls were tasty. Y'all this turkey leg was the most moist and tender turkey leg I've ever had. It was perfectly smoked. And you see how big it is. My husband asked for a to go box for me as soon as he saw it lol. My sides were greens and fries. I appreciate the greens being cooked with turkey since I don't eat beef or pork. They were just ok, not really seasoned with any flavor. And there was no salt or pepper on the table or I would tried that to add something to them. The fries were fries, no big deal but good. The turkey leg was the absolute star. My husband enjoyed his burger and fries. The food is reasonably price which was a pleasant surprise.
Libations. The drinks were $12 for margaritas and the margarita flights were $25. It was definitely the drinks that killed our bill lol. They were decent margaritas, not especially tasty but average I guess. The flights were a fun way to taste the different flavors, although they were out of a couple of flavors that we wanted to try.
Overall great experience. We enjoyed the vibe. Mostly grown crowd with a few families sprinkled in. I definitely wouldn't bring my children after 9pm because I music and dancing was for the adults lol, but to each its own. This is a date night, girls night, solo night, or party in the gazebos night (think they're $150 to rent). Looking forward to...

I have been to this establishment several times- I initially started with the location in Stockbridge however, when I was informed, they were opening a new location in the old Starshine restaurant, I was excited. This was closer to where I reside. Now to move forward the last two times I went I was in complete shock! The first encounter we arrived at around 9:45pm on a Saturday, in which they indicated that they do not close until 1 am- so we were happy, we were seated by the hostess, ordered our drinks-received them and we were waiting to order food only to be told by our waitress (after being there for over 30 minutes) that the kitchen was closed- because they were backed up. But here's the clincher when the waitress returned with our check for the two drinks, we ordered the tab was $60.00-- two drinks- now I know we ordered a double but..... 18% gratuity charge and there are no prices listed for the drinks unless it’s a special..
Fast forward to this weekend which just also happened to be my birthday- I went to try again- because I understand that sometimes things happen.. We arrived and were seated immediately, we ordered everything all at once-- Shots for the birthday girl along with our food with more drinks.. It started raining so we asked to be moved under the awning or under one of the other covered tables. We were initially told that we had to see the hostess to be reseated- Okay, did not understand but okay- let's just say we played musical tables- only to be told we would not be able to be seated because they were seating customers currently arriving. We had been there for more than an hour, and although we had been given a glass of water and one drink (shots), we were still waiting for the remaining items we had ordered, which confused me.
Now here is the next clincher, when the waitress returned, she apologized for the inconvenience as it related to the service and gave us our tab was $44- TWO SHOTS.. Let's just say you know the old saying fool me once-shame on you- FOOL ME TWICE shame on you! It will not be a third time- This was the second time; This was the second time- I left 1942 on the square restaurant HUNGRY AND DISAPPOINTED we ended up going to another restaurant to eat and celebrate for the SECOND TIME IN A ROW! All I had to...
Read moreWas invited out after church. The place was hard to identify while dri ing to figure out where to park. There is no visible sign, and the plant bed that has the name on it sits inside of the outdoor area as you walk up instead of facing the street for consumers to identify it.
Once we arrived, we were informed that they were only serving off the brunch menu until 3 p.m. The inside is so much smaller than our doors, and the AC wasn't on/working 🤷🏽♀️.
The menu didn't offer a lot of selections, and the sides were sold separately. So we waited 30 minutes until the other menu was available. Service wasn't consistent, and everything took forever to receive, down to the utensils.
When we requested utensils, they gave us a plastic fork, which I prefer at public places, but there was no knife included, and they said none of the untels were rolled for us to get the regular ones.
The porkchops were the thinest I have ever seen, and they put 2 drops of lemon pepper on them (requested flavor). The collards were just okay but had way too much juice, and once drained, something tasted weird (it could have been the hot sauce) 🤷🏽♀️
The mash potatoes were good, and the maple glazed salmon was fine. The person I was with swamped their broccoli for mashed potatoes.
The deviled eggs were runny. Although it is listed on the menu, you can not order the Creole Turkey leg because it has been discontinued. 🙄
Before we left, I could hear someone coming out of the kitchen yelling hot water. She sat at the table behind us with two pitchers of water, and some other waitresses came out and took the regular utensils and dropped them in the hot water. I've never worked in the back of a restaurant so I don't know the procedures for the utensils but I truly hope they were already washed with soap and water and this is a final sterilizing part of the process before rolling them for use.
Heads up, every receipt will automatically be charged an...
