If I could give this a 0 star I would. Me and my wife always request this Chili’s but we will never be coming back after this incident. I ordered the ribeye which is $20 and what happened next will shock you. I told the young teen server that I wanted medium rare, and to change the broccoli with roasted street corn. He proceeds to bring me back my plate, and the loaded mash that comes with it is missing, also my steak is cooked to medium well. Usually when you get a steak at chili’s they ask you to cut into it but I was not instructed to do so. I am an executive chef and was treating my wife to a date night, and already looking at the steak and doing a feel test I could tell it was over cooked. I proceeded to cut into my steak on my own accord and showed the server that it was over cooked. I then told him I wanted a medium rare, he takes it back into the kitchen and this is where it gets scary. He brings me back my steak, with my potatoes added, and THE EXACT SAME PLATE (notice in the picture there is seasoning on the rim indicating they slid it off the plate, and the slit in the steak I had previously made, and cooked my same steak even more and put it back on the returned it to my table, so if I had been sick let’s say with covid-19 or the flu, they would have had an outbreak on their hands, that is an example of cross contamination) so I then told him the steak was now cooked well done and I wanted to speak to a manager. I then proceeded to tell the manager what happened and she said “oh yeah he thought you wanted it cooked more done, let me get you a fresh medium rare, (I explained to her about my plate and it didn’t phase her in the slightest.) She then brings me another ribeye (which I can tell is again over cooked and about a medium this time) She brings it over and says here you are, by that time I had been waiting an hour to eat my ribeye, and told her that the steak was a lot better (because I was tired of waiting) I was hesitant to eat the steak because of there sanitation and culinary practices and needless to say I was STARVING. Anyways I ate the steak (didn’t even get a discount or comped) and paid for it later…. Moral of the story is once a plate has been placed on a customers table YOU NEVER BRING IT BACK TO THE KITCHEN MUCH LESS TO THE TABLE AGAIN! NEVER EATING HERE AGAIN, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the health department reads this and launches an...
Read moreEdit three years later: the food is delicious! Quite surprising for a franchise restaurant. The steak was cooked well, and the mashed potatoes were Devine. I find it interesting how it's easier to buy the 3 for 3 than individually. The server was attentive and gave us two drinks to go. I'm certain we'll be back. At first I was going to give them 3 stars off the bat. Because the baby changing table was horrendously dirty. It either had mold on it or someone smoked something on it.
But 4 stars for the sweet waiter. The one with the short blond bob haircut. We came because I called ahead of time and the lady on the phone said they sing happy birthday to kids. Well..... Sadly she lied.
My 1 year old came with us. But at the end of the meal, she happily announced it to the entire place and everyone clapped. Worked just as well ! I'd like to personally thank her for that because we could not have an expensive party this year due to covid.
The food itself was great ! I will say, the steak had just a little too much seasoning on it. A little too salty for my taste. If you don't eat pork like me, ask for no bacon bits on top of the mashed potatoes, or you'll have to sit there and rip them off with a fork. It's a topping with the melted cheese. I should have mentioned that. The mashed potatoes were good. My baby ate almost the entire plate along with some avocado pieces. My other son ordered a pizza and mashed potatoes. These are really meant for kids, as they were soft with little to no crispiness. The fries can be a little salty too so we opted for adding no seasoning. They tasted great ! The blooming onion was delicious too. The seasoning on it made it a tad bit sweet as well.
Finally the lava cakes were amazing ! Like probably the best cake I've had in awhile. We didn't leave any left over.
Our total came out to 57+ dollars today. Each entree was from...
Read moreI have been going to Chili's for the last 30 years, and have had some good experiences, and well, some that were not so good. I have been to Chili's in several different states, and have tried most everything on the menu, but after all this time, no visit has left any sort of lasting impression, until now ... A few weeks ago, my daughter and I went to our local Chili's on North Central Expressway in McKinney, TX. It was later in the evening, and we just wanted to hang out and talk a little bit. Halfway through the meal, I had a sudden realization that my drink was never empty, we had plenty of napkins, boxes for leftovers, desert suggestions, and the check, before I even had to ask. We both left with smiles on our faces because not only was it a fun being together, and the service was impeccable, but the personality of our server, Ryan, was delightful. We actually talked about him on the way home. Normally, I wouldn't want to go out to dinner at Chili's, two times in a row, but after our last experience, my daughter and I agreed we wanted to go back. Lucky US!! Ryan was working again, and as luck would have it, we were seated in his section. Before long, he was cracking jokes with us, and we also had the pleasure of meeting his co-worker, Josh. When I walked into the restaurant, I was feeling kinda down in the dumps, but because of those two servers, who were so friendly, and funny, it was a complete attitude adjustment. Well, we continue to go to Chili's every week or two, and ALWAYS request a seat in Ryan's section. I like to think that we're now somehow friends. Bottom line, I couldn't recommend this Chili's location more. Great food, Great service, Great Times!! We even recently met the General Manager, Edgar, and that made it very clear as to where their servers learned how to be the Top Notch Employees...
