Authentic Flavor with Room to Grow – Still Worth a Visit!
I recently had the chance to try out this Mexican food spot, and overall, it was a pleasant experience! The place is very clean, and the staff was attentive and friendly throughout our visit. Big bonus: great parking space and super fast service, which is always appreciated when you’re hungry!
I tried the gordita de chicharrón en salsa verde, and it did not disappoint — nice size, good flavor, and a solid kick of spice. It hit the spot!
The menudo and pozole both had great flavor with just the right amount of spice — definitely comforting and authentic. That said, the bowls were big but the servings felt a bit small, with more broth than substance. Either a smaller bowl or a little more of the good stuff inside would make a big difference. And honestly, handmade tortillas would elevate the whole experience — hopefully they’ll consider adding that soon!
Prices were slightly on the higher side for the portions, but the taste and service help balance it out.
All in all, a solid spot for Mexican comfort food with a few areas to improve. I’ll...
Read moreWhile I appreciate this restaurant's drive for authenticity, the menu, though small could be a bit difficult for gringos like me to understand. After ordering at the counter, you take a number and wait for the food to arrive, no waiters, no complementary chips & salsa. I was looking at the taco plate, but I asked the lady taking the order if the tacos came with cheese? She said NO. The gordito says it came with cheese so I ordered the marinated pork plate. It took about 20 minutes after ordering to get my food. The gorditos kind of resembled a papusa. I started with the rice which was really good! The beans were also very nice! Sorry to say the flavor of the gordito was dull, very greasy and I didn't see even a hint of cheese? My husband ordered a chicken quesadilla which I swear also had no cheese??? I personally would probably not...
Read moreI ordered a pozole, and it came with lettuce, raddish, cilantro, and limes. I would have preferred cabbage and oregano as an option. I didn’t see any oregano in there and would have liked the option. It was shredded chicken but a little dried out. I’m first to admit I’m picky with pozole and Mexican food in general. I think for the area it is all right since there aren’t many options around that are good quality and authentic. My boyfriend tried the chicharron Gordita and it was mushy and sloppy. His shredded beef Gordita had good flavor my boyfriend...
