Kate’s Thai Cuisine | Food truck — Restaurant in McMinnville

I love Kate's Thai Cuisine! Now that I work from home rather than in downtown Portland, it is much easier to shift my hours a bit and run across town to get something. I almost always get the Pad Thai, and Kate is great about my special request for "no egg." Yummy sauce (would almost pay for a side of that separate). I usually get two meals so I have enough for several lunches or dinners over a few days, and this gives me a chance to try some of her other varied entrees. I've never, ever been disappointed! Kate is so friendly, industrious, and eager to please.

She does close at 5:00 pm now, and she is popular enough that she sometimes runs out of an ingredient in the later afternoon, which is a great compliment. Also, even when you can only see one car or waiting customer, she is often working on several phone or text orders from her repeat customers. I have learned the value of texting my order ahead to get in line rather than having multiple orders ahead of me if I drive up. But the food is worth the wait for a new customer or if I need to drop by unexpectedly. (And, oh, if you order ahead, do please show up and pay for your food! Anyone who doesn't is both rude or mean, and missing out on great...

I'm writing this review as a warning to others: beware of the pushy and unprofessional service at Thai cuisine. What started as a promising meal ended in disappointment and hurt.

The food was decent, but the service was abysmal. After paying over $30 or so for 3 boxes, the cashier had the audacity to insist we leave a tip! But what happened next was unacceptable. As I was leaving, I overheard the server telling another customer that they would receive extra food if they tipped generously. I felt hurt and disrespected like I had been penalized for not tipping.

Let me be clear: tips are not an obligation, they are earned. And Thai Cuisine didn't deserve one. The cashier behavior was not only unprofessional but also manipulative.

I will not be returning to Thai Cuisine and would advise others to think twice before supporting a business that prioritizes tips over customer satisfaction.

100% the best Asian/Thai food in the Willamette Valley. I have never had anything even slightly bad from here. The quality ingredients, the preparation, and the execution of the dishes is amazing. I dont know kate personally but she is always working so hard while im here and I only have the highest regard for her and her food. I stopped in today with my wife and baby, Kate was the only one making the food, taking orders, running the till, and answering the phone. Working a food truck is very hard work and to do it alone while maintaining quality is something to be admired. There is a reason she has 4.9 stars. She is extremely busy and needs to be efficient, if she is fussing at you it's because you're probably being stupid, or taking too long to order and taking too much of her time. Be respectful.
