On Christmas Day we (3 elderly ladies) decided to out to have a good Christmas Dinner since none of us had a family to have dinner with. We decided to go to your restaurant. We had a 10-15 minute wait to be seated, which was no problem. As we were seated so were about 4-5 other tables in the same area. After about 10 minutes we places our order. We knew that it was very busy so we knew it would take a littler longer to get our food. But we continued to see the surrounding tables get their orders, which were ordered at the same time, different waitresses. So we continued to wait. After about an hour we still hadn’t even gotten our salads. We started to question the waitress (we had a waiter) from another table she went to check on it for us. Our waiter finally showed back up. And he told us it should be ready in about 5 minutes. We asked about our salads which he did finally went and got. We finished our salads and continued to wait for our meals. Meanwhile the surrounding tables finished their meals and were leaving. Tables that had came in way after us were getting their meals and we were still waiting. After waiting almost 2 hours from the time we were seated our meals finally arrived but it was so late and one meal had to wait another 5-10 minutes before getting, we were done. My French Fries were soggy and barely warm. So with the fog rolling in and my oxygen tank starting to run low, we had no choice be to bag up our dinners and leave. The Asst. Mgr. took $25 off our bill, which at least was something but considering the the experience and lack of service I was disappointed even at that. The waiter should had been following up on his orders and customers. The Asst. Mgr. didn’t even come to our table to say anything. And I find that very unacceptable. I have been to your restaurant in Elk Grove CA a couple of times and had great food and service that was excellent. But this was the worst experience I’ve EVER had in a restaurant. And not only that, but this experience also totally wrecked what little Christmas celebration we were going to have. Plus a rewarmed chicken fried steak is never good, but I was hungry enough to eat it. I’m very disappointed in this restaurant. Don’t think I’ll be going there again, I’d rather go to...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible! My Girlfriend got food poisoning, terrible service, under and over cooked food, rude manger, then they sent out someone at 6am to use a leaf blower in the parking lot of best western.
First I went for breakfast. The onions on my eggs Benedict and in my potatoes were barely warm let alone cooked. My server did not come back til I was done eating (after I picked all the onions out). I asked her to tell the cook that the onions were raw and she said she would. I watched and she never did. Later that today I thought I would try again. I got the chicken and waffles the chicken was a boneless breast spread out really thin and extremely over-cooked. The waffle was just bland.
My girlfriend got the chicken pot pie. It came with green beans that had bacon in it (bacon not mentioned on menu). She ended up in the hospital puking for 6 hours with food poisoning. I called to inform the manager what happened and he wanted to argue with me telling me it couldn't have been them even though the only things she had eaten in the last 24 hours was from them.
Then this morning... The black bear shares a parking lot with the best western. Someone started using a very loud, gas powered, leaf blower at 6:05. This is well before the noise ordinance. Whoever answered the phone at the black bear said that the parking lot was owned by the Best Western and the person out there was not hired by them. I spoke to the manager at the Best Western and she assured me that the parking lot where the person was blowing was leased by the Black Bear Diner and it was certainly not one of the Best Western employees that was out there doing it.
This is the first and last times I'll ever eat at a Black Bear Diner.
Stay away if you value quality service, good food and want to...
Read moreI think it is important to preface this by assuring potential patrons that my family is pretty low maintenance. We are not prone to complaining for the sake of hearing our own voices. It was just that the service we received was extraordinarily awful.
We called ahead (group of 7), to verify they had room available, and they said they were able to accommodate us "no problem" . This was accurate in the sense they had a table for us, but the table was shoehorned into a center area of the restaurant with so little space that the waitress had to ask my wife to move every time she needed to deliver a plate or take orders.
Drink orders were taken pretty early on, and arrived promptly. My daughters ice tea had crumbs of food in it, but I told her to let it go. Stuff happens. (As I said, I am not one to make a fuss)
The problem was that ice tea floaters and cramped seating was not our primary issue. The big complaint was that we waited.....and waited........and waited some more. People who arrived as we did had eaten and left.... people who arrived 20 minutes after us were enjoying food. We clocked it at 55 minutes from the time we sat down til the point we walked out. We left because we were being told the food was "on the fire" which of course was code for more waiting.
I understand things happen, but it is kind of insulting to wait that long, especially when people who just arrived are enjoying there breakfast....... They sit and gleefully scarf while you sit, drooling, gnawing on a napkin, drinking warm OJ and wondering if Burger King is still serving breakfast.
My advice. Go somewhere else.
Best of...
