One star for having a pull out couch that is absolutely uninhabitable. I woke up with bruises on my back from sleeping on metal springs and bars.
The pull out couch bed is not suitable for any being with nerve endings. I am in so much pain in my legs and hips. There is a huge metal bar running down the middle and a collapsed mattress. You feel every spring.
I didn't have high expectations of comfort, but laying directly on the springs of a bed that is advertised is egregious.
I asked the front desk if they could give me a few comforters to pad it and they "didn't have enough". I did get one comfortor. It did not help.
The comfortor on the actual bed was extremely musty. The staff obviously cleans but they are hostile in the hallways and inneficient. There was long dog hair trailing down the hall and on the carpet inside as we arrived. Having a short haired dog at the hotel myself I would expect a deeper level of cleanliness. Especially since the pet fee is $50. A reasonable price, but still surprised to see it pre-haired.
The cherry on top of our stay was the maid knocking very loudly on the door starting at 10:50 am. Check out is at 12:00. My dog got riled up each time. It made the check out process really stressful and honestly it's disrespectful. It's obvious they want you out of there.
It's their hotel policy that the maids can start knocking after 10:00 am, even if you have the privacy sign on the door. The front desk staff told me this. It was not a pleasant morning.
Body wash and conditioner dispensers were empty when I took a shower, but I doubt they're worth it. The shampoo stripped my hair worse than a clarifying shampoo. V05 would be a higher quality. Shower is kinda dingy, mould stains in the grout, really low water pressure.
The bathroom is pretty spacious, so that was nice.
I'm hoping this room, and our experience with the housekeeping staff was a one off, because otherwise I really like the facilities.
The hotel itself is perfectly suitable. There's a "business center" which is a computer & printer in the main lobby by the elevator. A nice gym, and small indoor pool. Continental breakfast in the morning and a large restaurant space to eat in. There's a nice patio with a fire pit just outside of the "restaurant" portion. They also have a little convenience store with some toiletries, wine, beer, sodas, water, snacks, and candy.
There are so many dogs staying here, which is great for me, and dog owners with sociable pups, but if you're allergic I'd steer clear.
Right off the freeway, surrounded by restaurants, a gas station next door, and Wal Mart across the street. 10 minutes drive from downtown. Front desk staff is pleasant.
It was a nice touch to see hello, Name! On the TV as you come in. Easy to navigate TV, it automatically logs you out of your streaming. Some of the streaming log ins don't work.
The hotel experience is not, however "driven, and impressive" as the videos on the welcome...
Read moreThis was my first stay at the Fairfield Inn and it was an option when I couldn't book a room at my usual hotel (Rogue Regency). My first question to Fairfield when making my reservation back in April was, "Do you have an airport shuttle?" I was told that yes, they have an airport shuttle and this was confirmed with Google. I arrived at the Medford airport and called Fairfield and asked if they could please send the shuttle to the airport to pick me up. The young man on the other end of the line said that they don't have a shuttle. I told him that I was told that they DO have a shuttle and his reply was, "We've never had a shuttle." I told him that I'm at the airport and need a ride to the hotel. He again stated that they don't have a shuttle. At this point in time, after a very long day in several airports, I became frustrated and asked him if I can't make it to my room, will I still be charged. The employee stated that yes, I'll still be charged and I said "Even though I was provided incorrect information about the shuttle?" Yes, he said. I know I raised my voice and for that I apologize but I then said "So I'm going to be charged for a room I can't get to?" I asked to speak to his supervisor because both of us were frustrated with the situation. The young man hung up on me! I called a taxi and was taken to the hotel and I must admit that I was impressed by how beautiful the hotel is. I then walked up to the registration counter and told the employee my name and that I have a reservation and that "I believe I just spoke to you and you hung up on me..." The employee said that I disrespected him and that's why he hung up on me. OK, I've worked in customer service and know that customers can become irate at times but I've never hung up on a customer so this was out of the ordinary. Here is the information I retrieved from Google just now (May 28, 2024) when I typed in "Does the Fairfield Inn in Medford have an airport shuttle?": "Yes, Fairfield Inn & Suites Medford offers airport transportation for guests. We recommend calling ahead to confirm details." As for the accommodations, this is a fairly new hotel and I was impressed with the beauty of it. The bed and pillows were so comfortable! Very nicely decorated. It may be a little pricey for some people. The bathroom is nice but there appeared to be mold on the edge of the shower inside. The counter top to the side of the toilet had quite a bit of dust on it even though it's not too visible in the picture I'm attaching with my review. Other than that, everything seemed to be clean. If my usual hotel is not available, I'll probably go back and would love to see them put in a nice restaurant like Rogue Regency has. My suggestion is that they correct the misinformation on Google to read that airport transportation is not available through their hotel so others don't go through the same...
Read moreThere are a few things to know about staying in this hotel.
Staff: We checked in and once we reached the third floor realized they’d put us in a handicapped accessible room. The beds are way too low for my tall partner and we went down and immediately asked for another option. The check in clerk just gave us a flat” No. there’s nothing I can do” and then moved on to checking on the next person. It was a disappointing response to say the least.
The second thing to know is that there’s no central HVAC even though its either a new building or newly renovated. The unit in our room was obviously broken or very old as every time it cycled over it gave a huge loud clunk and then turned over with a high pitched whine like an airplane that would go on for at least 30 minutes. No one slept much. We didn’t even bother calling down since we’d already been told no on another room. If you’re a person who needs an accessible room - please be aware that they clearly aren’t maintaining this one.
Thirdly, the free breakfast was supposed to be from 7-10 a.m. at 9 am a small surge of folks came down and there was literally no food left. Everything was empty. One woman asked the staff members refilling the silverware if they were going to refill the (only) cut fruit bowl and she said “No, that’s all there is.” There were also no eggs, sausages or other non-processed food items available. When the woman asked again if they planned to bring out any more food the response was, “I’m the only person working and I’m doing the best I can!” I felt bad for her. And for all of us. We left and went to Cracker Barrel.
The workout facility was nice and the lobby looked good.
If you don’t need to sleep, to request anything from a staff member, or want them to deliver on the complimentary breakfast, but just like a good workout room and easy access to Cracker Barrel, Chipotle, and Jersey Mike’s, this may be a good...
