Common Block Brewing Company — Restaurant in Medford

Here’s the thing about this place, before Covid they were a great restaurant with full service that you would expect in a real restaurant. During Covid they drastically modified their service, You had to go to the cashier to order and they would deliver your food to the table, with no follow up and still prompted you for a real full service restaurant tip. Now in 2025 you order through a QR code at your table or stand in line and order at their beverage area. There is no one coming to your table to ask if you have any questions, there is no intentional interaction with their customers except to deliver your food and then there is the cursory “is there anything else I can get you” and absolutely NO follow-up. Moreover because you order and pay before any service you are obliged to tip before you see what service you receive or don’t receive. Also, the tip that is highlighted when ordering from the QR code is 20%…. WHAT??? They have done absolutely NOTHING in the way of service for you. The service at this place is hardly better the what you get at the mall food court, seriously. I have dietary restrictions and had to seek someone out to ask my questions regarding their menu items. The meal I ordered was tasty but I will never go there of my own volition, only when I have to. Sadly they have the largest and one of the better outdoor seating areas in Medford. Clearly they have zero incentive to become a real full service again because people’s standards are so low and they keep going back....

Seems like a great meeting place for anyone who doesn't mind the extremely loud noise. Not a good place to visit with one another. We arrived around 6:00 pm for dinner and despite the fact that there were eight of us, we were seated right away. Our waiter took our orders in a timely fashion. The food started coming out in a timely fashion, as well. However, by the time the last few people at our table were served, the rest of our table were almost finished with their meals. Two of us ordered fish tacos but it was almost 10 minutes after everyone else was served before they brought out one of the fish taco meals but the last meal never came. We had to track down the waiter after several minutes to inquire about the missing meal. He finally returned only to inform me that it would be another 10 minutes before it would be ready. By then everyone else in our group would be finished with their meals and waiting for me, so I cancelled my order. I understand that it was very busy, and mistakes happen, but my complaint is the fact that the waiter never apologize or offered any compensation. Someone else served our food but the waiter didn't bother to come follow up and see if we received our meals.

From other reviews, apparently, the food is good but unfortunately I am not able to comment on the food. Although my husband shard some of his meal with me, it was not what I ordered or would have ordered. We will...

Nothing “Common” about this place! It has a spectacular atmosphere with indoor or outdoor seating options … and food that is fresh, and on point every single time I have come!

I love that has a mixture of the feeling of the best of Portlandia and Bend… right downtown little ol’ Medford!

I happen to come this week on my birthday, and was treated to an extra special dessert, which was such a generous size … I was glad I brought my husband to help me with it.

I requested the quinoa salad, salmon dish, and to my astonishment, the order came out exactly as I requested, which is rare indeed!

Since I lived on the coast in British Columbia (near Tofino=), as well as in San Diego… it is rare for me to find good salmon let alone a restaurant that will prepare perfectly. I always ask for it to be barely cooked because the heat continues to transmit through the salmon there for continuing to cook it, even after it is off the grill.

Not only did I get exactly what I wanted, but the salad dressing that came with it was a perfect pairing.

A sidenote, is the music that was being played last night was a mix of 90s music… wish my husband loves, so the night could not have been any more special.
