I had a very disappointing experience at this store. The managers and staff showed little regard for customers and came across as dismissive and unprofessional.
I’m a former music store manager myself, so I understand how these situations should be handled. I was interested in purchasing a guitar, but I quickly noticed that it had a bowed neck, making it nonfunctional. Sometimes this can be corrected with an adjustment, but in this case, it looked severe enough to make repair costs higher than the instrument’s value.
I asked to speak with a manager to discuss possible solutions, but it took quite a while before she came over, even though she didn’t seem busy. When she finally arrived, she barely listened and seemed uninterested in what I was saying. I explained that I wanted to check the adjustment point to see if the guitar could be made playable — I even offered to pay for any damages or to purchase it first and inspect it in-store. Instead of having a reasonable conversation, another employee named Brandon — who wasn’t part of the discussion — interrupted abruptly, took the guitar, and said, “We’re not doing whatever you’re talking about.” The entire interaction came across as rude and unprofessional.
If they had simply listened and politely explained store policy, it would have been fine. Most reputable stores will either allow a customer to test an instrument or offer a short-term return window. Here, however, they insisted that if I bought the guitar and it turned out to be defective, I’d be stuck with it — even though they hadn’t tested it properly before putting it on sale for over $700.
To me, that’s unacceptable business practice. It feels like they’re pushing broken inventory onto customers instead of ensuring products are functional. I walked out without buying anything and have no plans to return.
If you buy here you could be sold broken junk advertised and priced as working because the employees failed in their job and then have it deceptively pushed onto you with no return or discussion. That’s unethical. You also could be subjected to their rude, unprofessional and...
Read moreI trust this place and the people here more than my own mother. Honestly, have fallen on hard times over the last year or so, and they have been fair and honest in every transaction I have had with them. People need to realize that this is a BUSINESS like anywhere else. It isn't a non-profit, or a help-a-homie shop, it's a Rick-flippin business and as such, they have to be smart about inventory and what they can or can not reasonably sell based on a lot of factors including, item size, weight, estimate of item sale value, cost of good sold, labor, time item will sit in inventory soaking up cost, depreciation, market trends, condition, customer history, etc. So DO YOUR RESEARCH before you bring something in to them. They aren't going to want to buy your 10 year old laptop because you, "Bought it for $4k", so it can sit there collecting dust. What you paid for whatever you are bringing in is almost entirely does not factor in to what they think they can sell it for. If you don't think you could sell it online yourself, then why in the world would you expect them to buy it? There is another, often forgotten, service they provide (or rather an aspect of their service) and that is convenience. Just like you pay a little bit extra to buy doritos at 7-11 because it is literally down the street, you should keep that in mind when you can literally bring an item in and have a loan established within minutes here. Try going in to any of the finance places locally, in your pj's, looking like a half a snack wrapper, and pulling that off. Not gonna happen. Pawn shops are one of the oldest, and frankly most undervalued, businesses in this country, and probably the world. For what pawn shops do, this place is like a shiny flawless diamond in a pile of pencil shavings. I LOVE this place, and the people that work there; because they are consistent, friendly, and best of all they are a family... and by extension they treat their customers like family and for that I applaud you...all around...and...give you my...SEEEEAAAALLL...of...
Read moreThis is hands down the most professional and courteous establishment of its kind within the entire valley. And trust me I have lived here for 30 years and have been to them all. I am always greeted when walking in with a smile and if they are busy they always make a point to acknowledge you. May seem like something small, but having courtesy and conducting your business in a consistent and reliable manner builds trust in the community and that is not easy to do these days with impersonal online transactions becoming the norm.
I think that is the main thing.....I honestly trust these people. I have fallen on hard times on and off over 30 years and had to pawn things that were family heirlooms and I had sworn I would never risk losing. but when you need diapers and fuel sometimes you don't get to choose. I have NEVER had an issue with an item I pawned being lost, damaged, misplaced, none of that. Jewelry will be place in seperate baggies to ensure it doesnt scratch, etc. They take attention to detail because they care about not just themselves and their employees but I genuinely feel like they care about the customers as an extension of how they run their business.
They dont try and cheat or swindle you, they dont belittle you for being on hard times.....I have literally had an employee there come.out to my car as I left and hand me 5 bucks out of their pocket for gas.....Im just another guy that grew up here and loves this valley. But the amount of times they have been there to help get me out of a pinch is appreciated more than words. You guys are awesome and I will see you next week to get my...
