Mrs. Murphy's — Restaurant in Medford

I REALLY hate to write this review because the food is so good but we truly just had one of the worst service experiences of our entire lives. 3 of us arrived at 7:10, they were very busy and clearly understaffed, not a problem. We put everything in at the same time, probably 7:20-7:25, drinks, one app, and mains. App takes a while to come, probably around 7:45. We were HUNGRY by this point. Drinks are still not out… unsure why as bartender was helping people who were standing around waiting for tables. We ask our waiter, says they’re coming, ok… 8 rolls around, drinks still not out. I go up to the bar at 8:10 and ask what happened with the drinks, they then come out shortly after. 8:20, 8:30, 8:35 rolls around, after being told food is almost out multiple times by our waiter, I go back up and say we would like to leave as we’ve been there for over an hour. Food was clearly not on the way as people who had showed up long after we ordered were then getting their food, tables were getting empty. Waiter did not comp anything, we just needed to leave to get other food, it’s 8:45 and we had been there an hour and a half and were clearly being ignored. I ended up going back after we ate somewhere else to ask to get the bill comp’d and the manager had the gall to say “But your ticket didn’t go in until 8:20” what a joke!! Ordered several items for takeout and I’m extremely underwhelmed and disappointed with most items. The steak pie was okay but is it normal for the takeout portion to be smaller than a bowl of soup…? The side mixed greens salad was overdressed but also wilting and brown… I wouldn’t eat it in fear of getting sick from it. We also got the feta dip with veggies & crostini. The feta dip itself was yummy but the cucumbers (which I ordered extra of) were so slimy and mushy. They were clearly bad but we were served them anyway. The moisture from those seeped into the crostinis so those were then soggy and inedible. The soda bread was good but didn’t taste like traditional soda bread… it had more of a banana bread consistency and no caraway seeds so lacking that flavor. The fish from the fish and chips was good, not great. The potato and leek soup was probably the best thing we received. Absolutely delicious. But unfortunately due to freshness problems with the veg, probably won’t be going...

We stopped here for lunch randomly and it was so good! There are lots of places to eat nearby, so it was difficult to choose where to go. We used to have a nice little Irish place near our house many years ago and I miss it, so we picked this place. The food was really good. I had the fish sandwich. It had just the right amount of slaw and sauce. We ordered the curry fries and the honey feta dip to share. Both were flavorful and delicious. The soup could have used a little more salt, but overall, everything was great. The lunch special was super affordable and you get a ton of food. I’d eat here again in a heartbeat whenever we’re in the neighborhood.

The staff was super nice and the atmosphere was fun. There’s a bar area that has a large tv and bar top service. The place is decorated with Irish memorabilia and trinkets. And there’s meter parking on the street....
