My wife and I are regulars here. We come in and a beautiful Black woman with long braids knows our faces and what we'd like to order. Really sweet! Love interacting with her. (The 4āļø for service is for HER ONLY!!!!!!)
However, there's this one guy that is so rude! He literally stares at her when she's just trying to do her job. He's so concerned with being unprofessional that he stared at her upside her head in front of me all over a table misunderstanding. It was so awkward! I felt so uncomfortable. Our beautiful waitress assured me it was okay but I still feel for her because there's no reason she should get such hostile treatment in her work environment!
Another reason I finally decided to write this review is because I'm transitioning VEGAN. (I've completely cut out meat). But I should not have to order inside the restaurant to get my order right.
Customer service is seriously lacking here.
I see and feel this will quickly turn into my wife and I's least favorite lunch spot.
My recent phone call went something like: me: "Hi may I place an order for pickup?" a woman with a heavy accent: "Yes, what would you like?" me: "LoMein, no vegetables and no meat -- gets cut off woman with heavy accent: "What meat?" me: "No meat please. I'd just like bell pepper and jalapeƱos." woman with heavy accent: "Okay so you'd just like bell pepper and jalapeƱos?" me: "yes please"
checks food
No Bell pepper and I promise it was maybe 7 jalapeƱos.
Normally we eat in to avoid this because it never fails that my togo order is done incorrectly. But why should we keep supporting a business that is okay with how workers treat their coworkers but also the customers.
I hope management actually reads this and creates a more positive environment.
We'll try again maybe a month from now to see but until then there are much more competent eats near the area or even just closer...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWell, it was an interesting experience dining there after our trip to the zoo last Saturday. We arrived at almost 12, but rarely any guest, don't know why, so it was a fast service. We ordered three Chinese dishes and a pineapple fried rice. The dishes are, water-boiled meats, chicken beef fish; Tofu; and a beef stew.
The beef was supposed to be cut thinly and again the muscle tendon, this means that for each slice, you shouldn't be able to observe the muscle fiber. Otherwise it would be very chewy, and the flavor won't be good as well. After pointing it out, the chef came out and admitted that the beef was machine sliced due to short handedness. It's amazing that they recognize the problem and promises to improve later. This is very rare since many other Chinese restaurants in town would argue and complain that we as customers do not know how to cook and don't know what a good flavor is like. They would also say that a 30 dollar dish spent them more than 10 minutes so it's impossible to improve. Or the cost is already more than 5 dollars that they are not making profit. So, Mulan Bistro East, your attitude makes me feel that the restaurant and the chef will do great in the future!!!! You guys are fantastic.
Besides the knife work, the flavors are there. You can expect some authentic flavor and aromatic. We will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a great lunch here. They were easily able to accommodate gluten free and vegan. The weekday lunch specials are great. The dish I got included soup or salad with rice and the dish I picked. I got a Kung Pao tofu dish with veggies. It was delicious and flavorful. A little spicy š¶ļø kick to it, but it was noted on the menu and it made it better. My friend got the general toa tofu and she liked her meal too. The only thing we both did not like was the miso soup. It did not have flavor it just tasted like hot water with the tofu in it. They could definitely improve on that. I will just get the salad next time instead. I did not take off any stars for the bad soup since the main dish was so good. Plus they have so many options that they are able to accommodate for gluten free and vegan. They also brought gluten free soy sauce to the table. I was extremely impressed that they could make this dish gluten free and vegan. I have to be in a major city at a specialty restaurant to have this many delicious gluten free vegan choices. šā¤ļøš„š Thank you for offering so many choices for people with allergies and dietary restrictions. We also ordered an appetizer of Vietnamese spring rolls, which was just ok. I would probably try something...
