My mother requested to have dinner here for her birthday. This was my first time patronizing this restaurant and I likely wonāt be returning. Iāll start first with the positives of my experience. The restaurant seems to have kind of a steampunk pirate theme, which I thought was interesting. Also the staff was friendly, though at times it was difficult to tell who was and was not a staff member as many were wearing black but only some were wearing clothing with the logo. That is pretty much the extent of the positives of my experience. Now for the areas than need improvement.
The food was subpar. We ordered two appetizers and entrees at the same time. Our entrees came out in two wavesā¦followed by our appetizers. All of our food seemed like it came straight from the bag. I was there with my mom, wife, and kids. My momās bbq wings looked heavily breaded and fried with bbq sauce just poured on top. They werenāt even tossed in sauce. All of our fries definitely looked like bagged fries. I had the chicken and sausage jumbalya (spelling?) and it was severely under seasoned. It was a bit smokey but other than that it had very little flavor. It kind of looked like someone cooked a box of Zataranās rice, in far too much water, then just tossed in some cubed chicken breast and sausage. My wife had the blackened shrimp pasta and unfortunately a few hours later had to spend much time in the bathroom as she definitely had food poisoning (maybe due to the shrimp preparation?)
Once we got our food, our server returned directly to the kitchen but had not given us silverware to eat our food. We had to ask a bartender for forks. She kindly gave us some, but then we had to eat our meal with plastic to go forks. Also there was a stage in the middle of the dining area. Not a problem in and of itself, but it appeared to be covered in various restaurant supplies like it was a storage area, and our napkin dispenser was super sticky to the touch for some reason. The first thing my daughter asked when we sat down was āwhy is my seat sooo dirty?ā We had five diners in our party and all five of us left with pretty full to go boxes because no-one finished their meal. I figured I could take my dish home and add some seasoning and finish it. My family ended up throwing our leftovers away though after my wife got sick. And in case anyone is wondering, we were there on a Saturday night. Not some random day and time during the week.
I think if the food were prepared to a higher quality, the price would be justifiable, but for what we received, I would say the food was about 5 to 10 dollars more than it should have been for each entree. I found myself thinking halfway through the meal how embarrassed I was to bring my mother there, especially for her birthday dinner. Then when I ordered a seafood boil, my crab legs and lobster tail was UNDERCOOKED and I ended up spending $105 for that tab where both my food was undercooked and the drink was disgusting. Every time Iāve had an issue with my food Iāve had to go through my bank to dispute a charge with proof in order to receive a refund. Today, when I ordered their pasta through door dash which took over an hour just for me to get, I found insect legs and wings in my food. Had to go through DoorDash to get a refund for this order. They just keep missing the mark when it comes to quality and fresh food. Most of the workers have an attitude for having to do their job. I highly donāt recommend ordering from this location. ARGUMENTATIVE!!! had a VERY SMART MOUTH!!JUST TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AS A WHOLE... We kept asking for things she would take 30 to 45 minutes to come back to the table then when she would come back she wouldn't have anything we ask for. My sister ask for just a sweet tea... everytime Faith came back to the table she still didn't bring the sweettea...even after so many reminders. She messed up everybody ticket and order, then have the nerve to get smart with us when we tell her the food and tickets were incorrect... she was mixing up credit cards with other people tickets... This was suppose to be a little celebration for me , because I was having my cancer removed the following morning, this night turned into a terrible experience at Red Pier. Also, Faith had the nerve to have security come over to our table like we was a crowd that was trying to eat and run, when she was the rude waitress FROM HELL!!!
