Oh, Schlotzsky’s in Memphis, TN, you never cease to amaze me with your relentless dedication to incompetence. I’ve had my fair share of laughs but mostly tears with this location over multiple visits and years, but today’s experience takes the cake.

Let’s start with today’s fiasco: I thought placing a simple online order would finally save me from your usual ordering shenanigans. Silly me! After driving 30 minutes, I received an email just a few minutes before arriving and when it was supposed to ready, declaring, “The ordering system was unable to transmit an order scheduled for today.” Wait, really? Did the internet take a day off?

But this is just the latest in a series of “delightful” encounters. On previous visits, I’ve tried to pick up my order from the so-called “order pickup window.” Surprise! This elusive window is apparently fake and it’s now located behind the counter now?! It’s like a treasure hunt, but with zero treasure and maximum frustration.

On another memorable occasion, the young cashier, who looked like she had seen better days, mentioned she was supposed to leave hours ago but couldn’t because, nobody would take over for her and she didn’t want to leave the store completely unattended. She’s the lone ranger in this circus.

Speaking of staffing, they seem to be perpetually understaffed. This has been a consistent theme for years. I can only assume it’s because no one can stand the dreadful management. If they treat their customers this poorly, I shudder to think how they treat their employees.

And let’s not forget the owners, who must be the epitome of penny-pinching. Their frugality is so extreme it’s actively ruining the customer experience. Kudos to you for finding new and innovative ways to be cheap and drive off paying customers! It’s a bit counterintuitive you think?

In conclusion, if you enjoy being part of an ongoing sitcom where the joke is always on you, Schlotzsky’s in Memphis is your go-to spot. For everyone else who values their time, sanity, and wants something to eat, I highly recommend finding a place that knows the basics of customer service and order fulfillment. After countless disappointments, I’ve finally decided it’s time to break up with this comedy. Thanks for the memories, but it’s time to move on.

5.1.25 Decided to give this location another chance.. big mistake.. same bad service. I ordered ahead online but when I got there I was told my food was given to someone else in error. It took an act of congress almost to get the order remade.

Wish I could give negative stars! On two different occasions the owner was extremely rude! I decided to give the business another chance yesterday and she was equally rude. When I entered the store my order was waiting by the counter, no other customers were in the store. I noticed a soda cup and straw next to the order. I immediately told the cashier I hadn’t ordered a soda. The cashier insisted it came with my meal. Although I didn’t want it, I filled it up with soda and waited while they remade a part of my order because it was wrong. I practically had to BEG for the 5 bags of chips that came with my family’s order... showing her repeatedly on the Internet receipt in her hand that I had paid for them. Out of nowhere the rude store owner comes from the back, no greetings just rudeness.. got in my face saying the soda did not come with meal and I owed $2.79. I told her I didn’t ask for it, that it was given to me.. she continued to yell $2.79 while holding on to register. I threw the soda in the trash (refused to pay for it)and asked for my order that was being remade. So then the owner said I didn’t pay for 5 bags only 4 and that I owed $1.49... now I’m pissed and told her to look at my receipt and quit trying to nickel and dime me. When she couldn’t get extra funds out of me she went into the kitchen and began yelling at the workers accusing them of giving me a free soda. I don’t know the workers personally. Due to Covid19 all employees, except the store manager had on masks. Not only was she rude to me she was disrespectful to her staff, yelling directly in their faces without a mask over a $2.79 soda that I truly believe she placed there before I arrived in order to get me to buy it! Well, where should I start. I recently made a visit there & ordered my favorite sandwich that came with the au jaus sauce, cant remember the name at the top of my mind, it was roast beef cheese and sauteed onions with the juice sauce on the side & i got it as a combo meal with drink & chips. firstly, i stopped coming because i used to work here and i quit too much issues with the management, secondly i stopped coming because it was just disgusting to eat there knowing how they served the food to customers, thirdly i stopped coming because the food i ate gave me food poisoning, and lastly, customers complained about it but managers did nothing. i came back because i saw local people giving good reviews with pictures etc, & thought oh new management and better food service? well i get there the same management still worked there and still again treated customers and employees horribly. i got my sandwich & pretty much wasted 10 bucks on it, the meat looked molded, the sauteed onions tasted like it was expired and lastly the juice was very old there was white mold clumps coming up at the top and the CHIPS, i found a rat poo and ants inside my bag. so clearly, they still are disgusting and wont return back until new management and cleanliness is better for not just me, but for the customers and the poor employees who have to work with that.
