Update 1/15/25: My experiences since my last update have been about the same. I'm not concerned with how busy you are, I ask for my drink to be right. White hot chocolate with an extra pump of cinnamon dolce syrup and cinnamon powder on top. All I got was a hot milk. No flavor, no whipped cream, no cinnamon. It's not that hard people, it's really not. Just read the receipt. Or for f*cks sake, at least make a regular white hot chocolate sans my edits, I'd take that over a completely-wrong-on-all-fronts drink. Update 9/29/23 : Checked the app at 6:30am and everything was available to buy. Thought to myself "cool, I'll go in like an hour or two and get a coffee." Checks back in at 9am, more than half of the items on the menu through the mobile app are marked as unavailable. Most things not available to buy feature whipped cream so I am of the assumption that they just mark whipped cream as out of stock to force the menu to look like they have nothing available to buy so people stop ordering and therefore get less business to make it easier on them. I dont think I can be convinced otherwise. -------‐--------- I genuinely think everyone that works here except for 1 guy (don't remember his name) is not only apathetic about their job and/or life, but they are also illiterate.
There is never enough staff which, while understandable, is crazy. Will watch the person over baked goods stand around and do nothing while the one person working both cold and hot drinks does ALL the work. Where is the manager to help out? This location is next to some of the largest corporate buildings in the area and they think 3 people is enough during any hour of the day? I've also seen on occasion people coming in and out of the back room while the 3 people are up front so I know at least 1 or two other employees are around. What could they possibly be doing that is more important than helping front of staff during a rush where multiple people are having to wait 30 mins for a drink?
They cannot read even the most basic of instructions on cups. Multiple times I have asked solely for some whipped cream on a drink and I'd say at least 85% of my orders have been given to me without it. It is a basic blonde vanilla latte with whipped cream. It's not like I'm asking for a venti mocha chip frap hold the mocha add 4 pumps of pumpkin spice half oat half almond milk 5 cubes of ice exactly add whipped cream drink.
App is NEVER updated to say what they have and what they are out of. I heard a manager tell a customer that they have no control over the app accuracy which is total hogwash. Asked too many times for bakery items to be told when I got there that they didn't have it.
I think you're better off going to a different store. That or I hope you get lucky and go at a time when the 1 guy there makes your...
Read moreAs this is the most conveniently located Starbucks relative to me it’s unfortunate how many times I’ve decided to go to the Poplar/2-40 location because of terrible experiences at this one. Usually long wait times or consistently out of product is why the experience goes wrong. Realizing this is a popular location I can understand product unavailability from time to time but the drive thru window constantly has employees incapable of multitasking working it. Today there was a person named Alex who had me waiting 20+ min just to take my order while I watched 3 vehicles ahead of me pull off for dealing with the same thing, and then I had to wait another 20+ min to get my order. During this 40min I watched as he continued to ask each vehicle for a tip that had also waited incredibly long. I begin to think maybe there’s only just a couple people working, but when I finally pull up to the window I notice two other employees laughing and joking around, seemingly not busy at all. And Alex ends up thinking I’m some other person’s order when there had been only 2 cars ahead of me at this point and one behind. I ended up calling to ask the name of drive thru employee and the person who answered was laughing when first saying hello. I am not one to leave negative reviews typically but this experience felt necessary to bring to the attention of hopefully someone that cares...
Read moreRudest experience I've had at a Starbucks in years. While the gentleman who took my order was friendly, his coworker would be better suited in a position not involving customer interaction.
I placed my order and, after a longer-than-usual wait, walked up to the counter and very politely asked if my order would be up soon. His coworker, a woman with a short afro, loudly responded from the side and without looking up, "It's coming up. One person at bar." I was quite shocked at how rude she was, and that she interrupted what was actually a courteous conversation in such an ill-mannered way. The gentleman, polite and apologetic, told me my drink would be ready shortly and expressed that they were short-staffed. His unpleasant and impolite coworker continued about "at the bar" without ever making eye contact with me as I retrieved my drink from the counter.
Following this experience, she is someone I'd say is better suited for a position not involving any customers as she has clearly demonstrated she's incapable of treating them with even the minimum amount of civility due a patron. As for the gentleman who took my order: promote him. Pronto. And hire more people like him; less like her.
I'll visit one of the many other coffee shops in the area...
