Leaving this review especially to help folks with food restrictions â I was a repeat customer and went 4x, probably wonât be back
First time, I told them I was lactose intolerant, and they said theyâd make the dal tadka dairy-free for me. The man who owns the restaurant took our order and was very knowledgeable. However, when the food came out, it was not lactose-free, according to the server. Thatâs ok- the owner went back to the kitchen and had them remake it for us. Took longer but we didnât mind because the food was good and the owner was very nice.
Second time, got the same dairy free order, but I was ill afterward. Not sure it was dairy free.
I went back a third time for take-out, same order. I looked in the box of rice, which was quite little. I didnât say anything, but the lady who checked me out saw me looking and asked if I wanted more rice. I said yes, and she said, well thatâs an extra charge because we already gave âcomplementaryâ rice. A bit frustrating to get little rice for the price ($16+tip), as well as the fact that I was an repeat customer, and then be offered more rice, but be told to pay more. (Rice is so, so cheap to buy, and they make so much of it at scale, and other Indian restaurants will just give free extra rice.) I explained that I usually run out of curry before I finish the rice, but she said thatâs all theyâll give me. But my stomach felt fine this time, so I think they did it dairy-free this time.
Fourth time I went was last night, same order, I confirmed verbally 2x that it would be dairy free on the phone and then a third time when picking up. Felt extremely ill afterwards. Had a bad night.
Conclusion- they can be really hit or miss with taking care of food intolerances. The man who owns the restaurant is nice and tries to take care of customers, but poor and bizarre service otherwise. Also overpriced for the amount of food. I was happy to pay a bit more for food when they seemed to get my food intolerances right (I also have a gluten allergy, (those of us with food restrictions know how hard it is to find a good place!) & provide good service, but it seems way less worth it when I get sick...
Read moreI will start by saying that the restaurant that used to be here was one of my favorites, and came into this expecting my experience to be as good as the previous Indian restaurant located here. Suffice it to say, I was hugely disappointed. I showed up half an hour after opening and the doors were locked. But the sign out front said open, so I looked up the number to call. The entire staff had gone somewhere in a car together and told me they were going to be back shortly so I waited 5 minutes in the parking lot for them to all arrive. At first I thought the atmosphere was going to be really nice It was dark and decorated and had a vibe but it didn't take long to realize that the darkness was to cover up that the floors were completely littered with food debris that had not been cleaned up. I ordered my food and waited a long time as I was watching stafco in and out of the kitchen I could see through the door and the sink was piled twice as high as the top of the sink with dirty dishes that look like they were never washed from the night before. It was disgusting. After waiting for nearly half an hour, my server comes to my table and says that the grill had not come on and asked if I wanted to change my order or wait for the grill to keep warming up. I had already waited half an hour looking forward to my particular order so I chose to wait in about 10 minutes later my food finally showed up. Now the food was flavorful not the best I've had but definitely had a satisfying taste and seasoning... But with all the other negative experiences that it took to get to that point, it's not worth the effort the time or the cost. You would be better off going to India Palace or mayuri If you want refills on beverages with your food. This was not a buffet by the way unlike the previous restaurant. The two alternates I listed are buffets but if you want to dine-in experience Bombay in Cordova is a far superior restaurant as well. I won't be...
Read moreBruh, so my bros bday was here and I didn't have a choice but to eat here, right. So I get there and I don't have a clue what to order and really I'm just kinda like whatever man I don't wanna be here. Then this waiter dude comes over like some kinda majestic Indian God , he's got his top 2 buttons open, gold chain resting atop his dark chest hair. I want to say "save some women for the rest of us bro" but I just say "I'll take whatever you suggest" because who's going to tell this Indian God of a man what they're having, right. Idk what I got, some kinda lamb dish and when I tell you the second the 1st bite entered my mouth it was as if God himself came down and caressed the tip of my tongue with heavens warmth. I had to leave after completing my Delicious succulent meal because my dog was at home and I promised him I'd take him to the park, which I did not, because there's just not enough time in the day sometimes and I knew that little shit was gonna have me a nice spite piss waiting on me. But if it weren't for that little devil dog I probably would've just stayed there til closing time. I'm actually probably highly considering selling my dog if anyone's interested. He does bite but he's little so doesn't do much damage. But anyway, yea, this place is like some sort of heaven without the gates and angels and all that. If heaven has Indian food then this guy definitely has an inside plug somehow, which wouldn't surprise me because those Indians are so creative sometimes and they really have drive and are a smart culture of people. But , ya know, Def try this place out . Try the lamb meal. Straight fire...
