Tommy's Old Fashioned Subs — Restaurant in Mentor

Hands down THE BEST SUBS I'VE EVER EATEN! I don't know what the hell they do (apart from cutting all the meat and cheese for your sub when you order it) but you just have to try them to understand what I'm talking about. (They murder DiBella's if that helps give you a frame of reference.) Anyway, there are essentially only 2 subs to get there. The others are good, but the 'best subs ever' title comes from the Super Philly and the Hot Italian. If this will be your first time order one of those two and you will forever stop going to any other sub shop. (Also, the establishment is nice and clean and you can see everywhere your food is prepared.)

So my aunt claimed DiBella's was better, so (because I had a $5 off coupon for DiBella's reducing the amount of money I'd be wasting on an inferior sub) we decided to have a taste test. On the first bite she caved and agreed Tommy's was significantly better. I'm telling you, until you try it you can't understand how crazy good this place is. Also on that visit, I watched the owner make a BLT sub for another patron, and it looked and smelled incredible. Basically this place is one of the best sandwich shop in all of Northeast ohio, it's basically the closest thing to a mom-and-pop owned Jersey Mike's or east coast deli. They make some of their meats in house that they put on the sandwiches, all the toppings are always extremely fresh and they have their own house made vinaigrette to put on any good Italian sub. The place on its face does not look very impressive, it really is the closest thing to a hole in the wall sub shop. It's owned by the same people for years and is a pillar of the mentor community. I ordered this on DoorDash as I was stuck in meetings all day. I got a buffalo chicken sub, which I was nervous to get delivered because I don’t live super close and didn’t want a soggy mess, but really wanted it! And an Italian sub for later for dinner (pictured). I also ordered Mac salad and pasta salad. The buff chicken sub wasn’t soggy at all, and it was good! Not the best over ever had (here’s looking at you Charley’s). Now the Italian sub was AMAZING. So so good.
